Shamwari Group Announces Cooking Wild Safaris
Submitted by: The P.R Team11 November 2014 - Shamwari Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape and sister property Sanbona Wildlife Reserve near Cape Town, in conjunction with GOLD Restaurant and managed by Stir Crazy Cooking School, have opened two unique cooking school experiences, in November 2014, aptly named, COOKING WILD. Open all year, COOKING WILD is a new culinary opportunity to learn to cook or perfect your skills whilst enjoying the best of the African bush on a Big 5 safari with the choice of two unique locations.
During this culinary experience, guests will enjoy educational game drives, bush lunches and hone their culinary skills at a luxury lodge with the final evening culminating in a bush dinner. It is the ultimate experience, for either 5 days (4 nights) or 7 days (6 nights), and is open to guests from 12 years of age upwards.
Rates for both properties are – 5 day /4 night package course is R24, 000 per person, single supplement is 50%, and is fully inclusive of accommodation, meals and game drives as well as the ingredients required for the cooking course. House wines will also be served with all meals at no extra charge and there will be some premium wines and spirits that can be purchased. A further 3 day /2 night add on package option is R8, 000 per person. Rates are from November 2014 to end of December 2015.
Road transfers to the lodges are not included. One cooking school per month will take place at each game reserve with a minimum of 2 guests however additional dates are available for groups of 6 or more, subject to availability. Sanbona Wildlife Reserve’s cooking school can accommodate 8 guests and Shamwari Game Reserve can accommodate 12 guests. The cooking focus at the locations will also vary as each is influenced by local customs, ingredients, cultures and traditions. As examples, guests will learn to master the tagines of Morocco, the spices of Zanzibar, the Cape Malay curries and venison whilst enjoying the African bush and become a barbecue champion, cooking on open fires under the African skies, accompanied by the sounds of the wild.
A certificate of completion will be presented on the last day.
