Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre Returns Leopard to Wild

Submitted by: The P.R Team Save to Instapaper

On Saturday, 29 September, the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC) along with the Leopard Conservation Project (LCP) successfully released a 5 year old male leopard onto Camp Jabulani's property in the Kapama Private Game Reserve.

As with all such rescues and rehabilitation great care must be taken when dealing with these beautiful animals.  The release went smoothly and the leopard will of course be monitored, from a distance, during its return to the wild by the HESC team.

Earlier this year HESC's animal curator, Christo Schreiber was contacted by the Leopard Conservation Project (LCP) to take care of this leopard that had been caught in a cage on a farm near Elisras.

Comments Founder Member of the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, Mrs Lente Roode:  "I am thrilled that we were able to release this leopard on to the reserve after he stayed with us at HESC while recovering and that Andre Nel from Pick 'n Pay was able to join us for the release, as Pick 'n Pay and HESC have a longstanding relationship that is very precious to us."
