HESC Celebrated Earth Hour To Inaugurate Its New Environmental Management Committee

Submitted by: The P.R Team Save to Instapaper

The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC) and Camp Jabulani celebrated its second Earth Hour on Saturday, 31 March 2012 by inaugurating its newly formed Environmental Management Committee.

The meeting was conducted in complete darkness, with just a few flickering candles.  The purpose of this committee is to draw up different environmental management policies relating to subjects such as water, waste, energy, fauna, flora, and game management.

The end result will be a comprehensive Environmental Management Plan which aims to identify projects to improve the camp’s ‘environmentally friendly’ status, and to educate and train staff from each of the respective operational departments.

Comments Managing Director, Adine Roode: “HESC will continue to reuse, recycle and sustain as it is up to us all to make a difference, no matter how small our individual contribution is.  Earth Hour isn’t just about switching off lights one night a year but rather an annual reminder for us all to nurture nature.”

As HESC is known for supporting and implementing conservation efforts, Earth Hour was a great opportunity to bring awareness to visitors on the importance of helping to save endangered animals as well as the importance of sustainable living.  Each visitor was given an information pack about Earth Hour and its relevance to us all.

This press release has been distributed on behalf of our client, the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, an affiliation of Camp Jabulani.
