Engen Xtreme fuels the Future of Spin Bowling with Youth Development Programme

Engen is proud to announce the launch of the Engen Xtreme Young Spinners Programme, a purpose-driven youth development initiative aimed at nurturing the next generation of spin bowling talent.

In collaboration with Cricket South Africa’s Tuskers Inland and Coastal unions, the programme will focus on developing Under-14, Under-16 and Under-19 players through expert mentorship, structured training and high-performance exposure.

The programme will initially roll out in KwaZulu-Natal, with plans for national expansion in future phases.

A total of 36 young cricketers will form part of the inaugural intake, ensuring a focused and high-impact development experience.

World-Class Mentorship

At the heart of the programme are two of South Africa’s most respected spin bowling talents, Tabraiz Shamsi and Paul Adams.

Each mentor brings a unique blend of international experience, technical expertise, and legacy, making them ideally positioned to guide and inspire young players.

Beyond coaching, they will provide mentorship, share personal journeys, and instil the discipline and mindset required to succeed at the highest level.

As part of the programme’s rollout, participants will also receive branded cricket uniforms, officially handed over by Paul Adams during the initial visit.

Programme Structure

Running from July to November 2026, the programme is structured to provide consistent development through quarterly in-person training camps, supported by virtual mentorship sessions.

The curriculum focuses on technical skill, match awareness, fitness, mental conditioning, and personal growth, equipping young players with a well-rounded foundation both on and off the field.

Inspired by Engen Xtreme

The Young Spinners Programme is a natural spin-off of the Engen Xtreme product range, translating the concept of high-performance engine “spin” into the art of spin bowling.

Just as Engen Xtreme lubricants are engineered to deliver performance, protection, and endurance under pressure, the programme is designed to develop young athletes who can perform, adapt, and excel in competitive environments.

“Performance is at the core of everything we do with Engen Xtreme,” says Melissa Graham, B2C Sales Marketing Manager: Lubricants at Engen.

“Through this programme, we are investing in young talent and providing access to world-class mentorship, ensuring that South African cricket continues to thrive for generations to come.”

Investing in the Future of South African Cricket

By partnering with Cricket South Africa’s Tuskers Inland and Coastal structures, the programme unlocks access to a diverse talent pool, helping to build a sustainable pipeline of future spin bowlers.

The Engen Xtreme Young Spinners Programme is more than a development initiative; it is a commitment to unlocking potential, driving performance, and shaping the future of South African cricket.
