SuperSport says former Banyana Banyana Captain and SuperSport Analyst, Amanda Dlamini, joins the event as one of the ambassadors and mentors. Other ambassadors and mentors include Abedi Pele (Ghana), Robert Kadiaba (DRC), Kareem Haggui (Tunisia), Adjoa Bayor (Ghana) and Clementine Toure (Cote d'Ivoire).
The African Schools Football Championships is in its third edition and seeks to establish itself as a continentally sustainable and competitive school football competition. SuperSport says that over and above the football being played during this period, there are other programmes and layers that will be included, such as the Young Reporter Programme and the Young Referee Programme.
The programme will also include other support pillars that will increase the social impact of football and build the capacity of participating countries to manage football through training programmes, adds the broadcaster.
CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe and other dignitaries will be in attendance during the finals of this year's event. The African Schools Football Championship is the brainchild of the current CAF President. Since its inception, the tournament has seen 880 000 kids from 46 African countries participating, with these figures predicted to increase over time, says SuperSport.
The broadcaster concludes that following the finalisation of the agreement, the games will be broadcast on SuperSport on DStv, the SuperSport Schools App and SABC+ (Plus) App.
