FlySafair Pauses Hoedspruit Operations As Flood Damage Renders Airport Unsafe For Flights
Written by: TNW Save to Instapaper
FlySafair has suspended all flights to and from Hoedspruit Airport until February 14.
This follows severe flooding in the area that damaged key airport infrastructure and compromised operational safety. Hoedspruit Airport sustained significant runway damage.
“We recognise that suspending our services adds to the disruption people are already facing during an incredibly difficult time. However, the safety of our passengers and crew must always come first. The current conditions at Hoedspruit simply do not allow us to operate safely, and we will not compromise on this,” said Kirby Gordon, Chief Marketing Officer at FlySafair.
All passengers affected by the cancelled flights will have the option to change their booking to a later date or an alternative route, at no additional charge, or request a full refund.
