bp says that winners Christiaan Haynes, Peter Letsoko and Thomas Brutus were named final winners for swiping both their bp Rewards and Pick n Pay Smart Shopper cards when making fuel and shop purchases at bp during the competition period.
Speaking at the prize handover ceremony, Domnick Nkhatu, Senior Manager for Convenience Trading at bp Southern Africa, says, "We had an overwhelming response to the competition, underlining the appeal of our proprietary bp Rewards programme. We appreciate the efforts of our partners, forecourt staff as well as all our loyal customers that continue to make bp their brand of choice."
All three winners admitted they thought it was a scam when they first got the phone call to tell them they had won a car, bp says.
"When I got the call, I was alone in the house, I nearly jumped onto the table," Peter Letsoko from Rustenburg says. "But I was over the moon. It will change my life a lot because me and my wife have been using just the one car. Now we can go anywhere we like. The technology of the Mini Cooper is something else."
Christiaan Haynes from Durban says that his first move was to phone the toll-free number to check if it was really true. "When I was told I’d won a car I was ecstatic. This has never happened to me before. It is definitely going to be life changing because I use my vehicle for work and I know how good the safety features of the Mini Cooper are."
"When I got the call about winning a car, I thought it was for someone else and when I told my wife she also thought so," says Thomas Brutus from Saldanha Bay. "I always think of bp as my family garage. My life going forward is going to be bp and Pick ‘n Pay — those are the main ingredients in my book."
