Youth Chapters | Visual Frequency Puts Artists at the Centre of Cape Town’s Next Live Experience
What might happen when artists stop waiting for the traditional music industry to build the platform for them? Artists create and present…
The Visual Frequency, presented by NovaWorld Ent, taking place on the 16th of October 2026 is perhaps very much built around that question. Taking place at Zevolis, Rondebosch, Visual Frequency brings together live performers and DJs across different genres for a night designed around artists, audiences and the freedom to experience music differently. Rather than asking audiences to fit into one sound or one scene, the platform might just be well on its way to creating space for different sounds, styles and creative identities to exist in the same room.
At its core, Visual Frequency is an event for artists, by artists. The focus is on live performance, genre-crossing and creating an environment where emerging and established creatives can connect directly with an audience. The lineup features Whistler International, Paak, Apollo, Pure, Viper Da Main, Ocean, Vustarr, Even, Aya The Prince and Ndista, which in its own strength aims to bring together a mix of performers and DJs who each contribute to the atmosphere rather than simply filling a slot. Music will sit alongside food, drinks, visual elements and an environment designed to feel welcoming, comfortable and safe while also creating a space to live a little on the dance floor.
For a generation of young creatives who are increasingly building their own audiences, releasing their own music and finding alternative ways into the industry, while the Minister of Arts & Culture pulls back on support systems and opportunities for the youth in the arts and entertainment industry, Visual Frequency is part of a bigger conversation about who gets to create the spaces where artistic culture is explored by the youth and happens. The event is aimed at a ages 19+ Cape Town audience, particularly those who are not necessarily looking for another night out, but for somewhere they can discover new artists, hear different sounds, meet people and experience something that feels connected to the city they live in. With entry set at just between R50- R60 via Quicket and at the door, the emphasis is on accessibility and participation rather than exclusivity.
Here is a room. Here is a stage. Here is an audience. Here is a relatively low financial barrier. Now let’s see what artists can do with it. That is the energy behind Visual Frequency: giving artists the opportunity to perform, experiment, collaborate and connect with people without waiting for someone else to decide when they are ready. With doors opening at 7PM until late, NovaWorld Ent and Zevolis are inviting Cape Town to come into the room, bring the energy and become part of what happens when artists are given the space to create on their own terms.
