Western Cape Golf Parents Launch Online Hub to Make Junior Golf Easier to Navigate

CAPE TOWN, 3 September 2026 — Two Western Cape golf parents have launched The Junior Tee, an independent online hub designed to make it easier for families to find their way through the often confusing world of junior golf.

The idea grew from a familiar experience: trying to work out where a child could play, which tournaments they could enter, which organisation ran what, and where to find reliable information.

Junior golf in the Western Cape offers young players a wide range of opportunities, but the information parents need is often spread across golf union websites, tournament platforms, clubs, academies, social media pages and parent WhatsApp groups.

The Junior Tee brings much of that information together in one parent-friendly place.

What families can find

At https://juniorteegolf.co.za/, families can find a junior golf tournament calendar, places for children to play and practise, golf academies and coaching options, as well as practical guides explaining how junior golf works.

The website also helps parents understand the different pathways available to young golfers. Depending on a child’s age, ability and location, they may encounter Western Province Golf, Boland Golf, SA Kids Golf, school golf and other junior golf structures — each with its own events, requirements and progression opportunities.

“As a golf parent, I realised quite quickly that the information is out there, but you often have to know where to look for it,” says The Junior Tee founder. “One parent tells you about an event, somebody shares a link in a WhatsApp group, and then you start figuring out who can enter, whether your child needs a handicap and where they fit into the bigger junior golf picture.”

“That was really the starting point for The Junior Tee. I wanted to create the kind of resource I would have loved to find when we first entered the junior golf world.”

The platform provides families with a starting point and directs them towards the relevant official organisations and resources when they are ready to take the next step.

The Junior Tee is also growing beyond the website. Recognising how quickly children outgrow golf clubs, shoes and other equipment, it has launched the Secondhand Junior Golf Gear Facebook group, giving Western Cape golf families a dedicated space to buy, sell and pass on junior golf equipment.

Support for parents and players

For parents, this addresses another very practical part of the sport. Junior golfers grow quickly, equipment needs change as their game develops, and perfectly usable clubs and gear are often sitting unused in another family's garage.

Beyond equipment, parents can explore child friendly golf courses across the Western Cape, find junior golf academies and coaches, learn about handicaps and tournament structures, and get practical guidance on many of the questions that arise as children become more involved in the game.

For families whose children are just starting out, the site also aims to make junior golf feel more accessible.

“You shouldn’t already have to understand the junior golf system to help your child become part of it,” the founder says. “If your child enjoys golf and wants to play more, there should be somewhere you can go and simply figure out what comes next.”

The Junior Tee is independently run and its resources are free for families to use.

The junior golf calendar, parent guides, coaching information, secondhand gear initiative and Western Cape golf resources are available through juniorteegolf.co.za.
