What Is It?

The Rip Curl GromSearch Scottburgh, presented by The Blue Marlin Hotel, is a junior surfing tournament that forms part of the five-contest Rip Curl GromSearch Series. It is a junior surfing event comprising U12, U14, U16 and U18 Girls and Boys. The contest is presented by The Blue Marlin Hotel.

When Is It?

Initially a two-day event, the contest had to be extended to three days to accommodate all the entries. It was a sold-out affair and entries are now closed. It takes place from 31 March to 2 April. Junior surfing is on the move in South Africa, and the Rip Curl GromSearch events have seen unprecedented interest so far this year. There are new faces at every contest, along with the regulars, with everyone pushing their surfing and performing at their best.

Where Is It Being Held?

The Rip Curl GromSearch will be held at the stunning Scottburgh Beach on the KZN South Coast. The wave is a high-performance sand-bottom point, and when conditions are good, it produces hollow, tubing waves. There is also an inside wave in certain conditions. 

The Blue Marlin Hotel is an amazing hotel that overlooks Scottburgh Beach, an ideal location for competitors and their families and is the tournament's presenting sponsor.

Who Is Competing?

The Rip Curl GromSearch will see the best junior surfers in the country competing for points and prize money. This is the third contest in the series, and the top four out of five contests will decide the series winners. Rip Curl Tide Watches are also prizes for the tournament's best male and female surfer.

The Blue Marlin Hotel is happy to offer a discounted accommodation rate of R1500.00 per night, accommodation only, a maximum of 2 persons sharing. Children aged 3 to 11 years will be charged a percentage of the rate. To qualify for the discounted rate of

R1500.00 per night, accommodation only. Participants must call/email the reservations office and quote "Rip Curl Gromsearch". This rate will only be valid for 30 March 2023 to 2 April 2023.
