The Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour, which took place at the iconic Camps Bay beach this past weekend, has wrapped up in spectacular fashion, delivering world-class competition, thrilling matches, and electric atmosphere both on and off the sand. The tournament drew top international athletes and passionate fans, cementing its status as one of the most exciting events on the global beach volleyball calendar.
With a grand prize pool of $400,000, the world’s elite beach volleyball duos gave it their all for a shot at glory, and the results did not disappoint.
In the men’s category, Sweden’s Jacob Holting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson clinched the top spot after a series of commanding performances that wowed fans and showcased their technical mastery. They were followed by Austria’s Timo Hammarberg and Tim Berger, who claimed second place, and Norway’s Mathias Berntsen and Hendrik Mol, who took third after a fierce bronze medal match.
Adding a touch of local star power to the celebrations, South African rugby legend Percy Montgomery took to the podium to present the medals to the men’s winners, a fitting finale that delighted the crowd and added to the spirit of global sportsmanship that defined the event.
In the women’s division, it was a powerhouse showing from Europe, with Germany’s Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillmann taking home gold after a stunning run of form. The Netherlands’ Katja Stam and Raisa Schoon earned a well-deserved silver, while Germany’s Sandra Ittlinger and Anna-Lena Grüne rounded out the podium in third.
The top eight teams in both categories shared in the impressive $400,000 prize purse, with first place receiving $70,000, second $50,000, and third $20,000 respectively.
“This year’s Beach Pro Tour has been an incredible celebration of skill, passion, and the global beach volleyball community,” said Leo Williams, event organiser. “The energy from the players, fans, and our partners was unmatched, and seeing the world’s best athletes compete at this level was truly inspiring. A huge thank you goes out to everyone who made it possible, from the players and coaches to the event staff, sponsors, volunteers, and fans. Your passion, hard work, and energy are what brought this event to life and made it such a success.”
The tournament not only delivered world-class sport but also celebrated the vibrant beach culture that defines the game, with entertainment, fan zones, and unforgettable moments both on and off the court.
As the final whistle blew, one thing was clear: the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour continues to raise the bar for international beach volleyball, proving once again that the sand is where legends are made.
