Mr. Gay World strengthens media team

Published: 12 February 2018

With the Mr. Gay World finals just a few short months away at the end of May, it is all hands on deck to finalise preparations. There is a lot that needs to be done and, as the old saying goes, many hands make light work. Media exposure is a major part of the work ahead, and these days one needs specialists to get everything just right.

As a gay event, the gay media needs to be kept informed of the latest developments. GaySA Radio, Africa’s only online LGBTQ+ radio station, has stepped forward to cover the event and make the content available to these media outlets. Streaming live via its website, GaySA Radio will bring all the interviews and updates daily, with a weekly wrap-up on a Thursday at 15h00 (Central African Time). The weekly broadcast will also be available as a podcast.

Of course the event reaches far beyond just this niche audience, as it speaks to LGBTQ+ visibility. Exposure in mainstream media is therefore equally important. Red Dot Public Relations has taken the responsibility upon itself to convey the right message to the right audience through their strategic PR planning. Red Dot Public Relations provides excellent PR strategies that will maximize Mr. Gay World’s reach. The very able team is led by Gavin Prins.

Social media has become an important component of any campaign. Mr. Gay World is no exception. The Social Media Company will be looking after the social media pages and ensuring that users like and follow all the action as it unfolds over the next few months. The Social Media Company was formed a year ago and they are already making a big impression on its clients.

These three companies will ensure that every moment of the Mr. Gay World 2018 event is covered, keeping you informed and up to date with the latest developments. At the same time, they will also cover all aspects of the Pink Loerie Mardi Gras and Arts Festival, which coincides with Mr. Gay World 2018. They are plowing their resources into this project pro bono, as it will contribute to the #KnysnaRises campaign during #GayMay. Mr. Gay World is excited to work closely with these three partners and thank them for coming to the party. You too can join the party on 25 and 26 May, when the President’s Ball and Finals take place.

Bear Witness to the Crowning of Mr. Gay World 2018

Published: 09 February 2018

You are hereby cordially invited to attend the Mr Gay World events that will be held in Knysna this May to bear witness to the crowning of a global gay ambassador.

The Pink Loerie Mardi Gras and Arts Festival is hosting the Mr Gay World Competition for the second time, and this is Africa’s third time hosting during Mr Gay World’s ten year history. Tickets are on sale now and you can book your seat for either the President’s Ball on Friday 25 May or the Grand Finale on 26 May.The venue, Villa Castollini, has stunning views over the Knysna lagoon and is the perfect setting for this event.

International singing sensation and winner of the Voice Israel, LINA, will be back in South Africa for the second time. Those who saw her perform at the Mr. Gay World Southern Africa Final will agree that dynamite does indeed come in small packages. In 2013, LINA won The Voice Israel, an incredible achievement, musically and culturally, considering the fact she is the first Palestinian to ever win a major TV show chosen by the Israeli public. LINA performed at the Tel Aviv Pride Parade to some 200,000 people and in so doing, she became the first Arab female singer to publicly support gay pride and the LGBT community.

She will be supported by Eden Michelle, who trained as a classical pianist from the age of six and released her first album at age sixteen. Living in London, Eden has been producing, writing and composing for numerous artists. Her debut EDM single is “Lost for Love”, featuring Dan Shaw.

Both these artists’ music is played regularly on GaySA Radio, our media partner for the event. You can listen to a weekly broadcast with the latest Mr Gay World news with podcasts available. Check out www.gaysaradio.co.za

Tickets are now available for these amazing two evenings filled with international talent and of course the hunky finalists of Mr. Gay World from over twenty countries.  Tickets can be found at www.webtickets.co.za.
