xTc Gaming wins Ballistix Masters South Africa 2016

Published: 05 October 2016

PuLse vs xTc - the rivalry continues The new re-branded Ballistix Masters South Africa (formally known as the Crucial Cup) took a completely new approach this year.

This year the prize pool grew to R50 000 and the prizes were more evenly spread, so much so that in the Battlefield cup (the biggest title with the largest amount of teams) the prizes go as far down as 8th place and Dota 2 as far as 4thSponsors, Crucial and Ballistix remain committed to supporting and uplifting the local South African gaming community. The Ballistix Masters Final took place on Sunday 25 September. And it was no surprise that the two top teams, xTc and Pulse would face off yet again. These two teams are both unbeaten in all their competitions. Until they face each other. With PuLse winning the majority of matches, and xTc starting to get their own back this was a nail-biting and pretty intense final. The entire week saw a build up towards this match final. Sunday saw an earlier match take place between SVG and PEW for third place.

With SVG winning that match on the third map. Then the stream changed over to the Grand Final.Nerves and the intense wish to win was shared by both teams. xTc knew that PuLse was going to be really tough to beat and that all the maps would be extremely close.PuLse won the first map (Dawnbreaker) - 4-1, but the xTc team stayed positive and took PuLse on the next map (Zavod) PuLse played the middle of the map really well, winning that first round 2-1. xTc knew they had to win the second round 2-0 if they wanted to stay in the game. And that’s exactly what they did. In under 7 minutes xTc managed to win the second round 2-0 and taking the map 4-1.

The third map was (Siege) and both teams felt that this map could possibly end in a draw and would have to go into overtime. The last 3 times these two teams faced off on this particular map the game went into overtime.... And this is exactly what happened! xTc winning round 1 with a score of 2-1, and PuLse winning round 2 with a score of 2-1. In overtime. xTc started on the attack and managed to plant in what I am sure is some kind of record, 1min 30 seconds.... the second round of overtime PuLse was unable to plant and therefore losing the map and the match.

Seeing xTc winning the Ballistix Masters South AfricaThe final stream has received over 550 views in 2 days and actually reached 500 views in the first 12 hours!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hP8fne0GdOU Congratulations to all the Clans who entered.
