Laser systems for prototyping in FabLabs and creative development departments

Published: 31 May 2017

Laser devices are increasingly being used for prototyping, model making, tool marking and in-house FabLabs.

In FabLabs, Maker Spaces, universities or schools, Trotec laser machines are used for model making, industrial design, prototype construction, in research, and in many other DIY projects. The amazing and inspiring designs that laser technology offers are also ideal for product development.

Drawings and designs can be sent directly from the CAD or graphics program to the laser.

Why a laser?

The laser cutter is THE tool in digital production. In addition to the variety of materials that are processed in FabLabs, universities or schools, finest geometries can be produced with the highest precision. Laser cutting gives users complete freedom for developing and implementing ideas.

In recent years, the trend has been that more and more flatbed lasers are being used in in-house training centers. The trainees or apprentices should be trained with as many modern and digital tools as possible. They will subsequently become innovators when it comes to new production methods.

Here, flatbed lasers are hugely important and flexible tools, which are extremely popular among young colleagues. In addition, there are more and more Mini FabLabs, well-equipped creative centers within industrial companies, which are used to give development departments as much freedom as possible to develop and implement new materials, production methods and all other possible ideas.
