Women in Business Networking Event

Published: 14 August 2018

5Inc is honoured to have been part of Tushiyah Advisory Services' Women in Business networking breakfast on the 8th August. The breakfast was held to celebrate Women's Day and to recognise female business owners. 5Inc was asked to provide the gifts for the delegates with the specific brief of having the gifts created by women.

5Inc's business focuses on creating products from waste material, whilst upskilling unemployed individuals. These individuals are taught technical skills such as woodworking, glass-cutting, sewing, and working with paper. During the training they are also taught to create products which are marketed by 5Inc on their behalf or which they can sell privately. This has the triple effect of teaching skills; allowing the individuals to create an income; and of instilling a revised attitude to items which would normally just be sent to landfill.

For the Tushiyah event, we provided succulent planters made from wine bottles. The wine bottles were cut by a gentleman who is trying to start a business in glass-cutting, and the planters were assembled by 2 unemployed ladies.

The event was held at La Vie en Rose at Killarney Country Club, and the owner of the venue was so impressed with the gifts that she is looking to purchase a range as decor.

5 Mistakes Business Owners Make

Published: 01 July 2017

Hirsch’s Meadowdale recently hosted a very successful Business Networking Morning with over 30 dynamic entrepreneurs within the community eager to network and to listen to Elsa Groenewald’s talk about 5 Mistakes Business Owners Make in their own Businesses.

Elsa  is a Business Coach with ActionCOACH and admits that during her 25+ years in business the constant for her was always her love for training and inspiring people to develop their skills.  She is committed to helping Business Owners achieve greater success and taking their businesses to the next level.

Elsa started her talk by giving the listeners some statistics on the failure rate.  4 out of 5 businesses fail within the first 5 years.  According to Elsa a lack of experience by owners can certainly play a major part in business’ failure.

5 Mistakes Business Owners Make in their Business:

  1. They don’t know their numbers.“If you don’t know your numbers, what is the focus of your Business?” It is important for business owners to build a Business Dashboard.

  2. They don’t understand that saving a wage will cost them a fortune.“You may think that the day to day activities of your business are vitally important, but most of the time they are things that Business Owners can hire people to do.”

  3. They forget what Business they are really in.“When your Business is based on discounts, guess what kind of customers you’ll get? You will get discount customers.” Don’t Discount, add Value.

  4. Failing to realize the importance of cash flow, not just profit.

  5. They don’t use Targeted Marketing.“Even a marketing giant like McDonald’s has a limit to who they market to.” Not all products or services are applicable to all people.  A well-defined target market is the first element of a marketing strategy.

After Elsa’s talk each of the networkers was given the opportunity to present themselves and their business in a 30-second ‘elevator pitch ’, followed by some lucky draws, networking, sharing of business cards and enjoying some refreshments.

Learning About Multiple Streams of Income at Hirsch's

Published: 26 May 2017

Hirsch’s Meadowdale recently hosted their monthly Business Networking Morning with 24 dynamic entrepreneurs within the community ready to network and talk business with likeminded people.

Guest Speaker for the morning, Michelle Mills spoke about “Why you need Multiple Streams of Income (and where to look).”Michelle has been actively involved in Direct Selling and Network Marketing for 20 years. She’s a qualified Project Manager, Bible School lecturer and MD of her husband’s company KaizenSHEQ. She was also one of the finalists in the Margaret Hirsch Woman In Business Achievers competition.

Michelle explained that relying on only one passive income is a big risk as having a job is only temporary. Due to the global economy jobs are less stable and more and more people are becoming unemployed. The most important thing you need is to have multiple streams of income. She explained that in South Africa there are over 1,000,000 people involved in some form of Direct Selling/Network Marketing, sharing in R4,400,000,000 in annual earnings.

The Various Types of Multiple streams of Income Include:

• Own effort:Cooking, Baking, Sewing, Woodworking, Beekeeping, Photography etc.Own effort means you carry your full risk (i.e. no work = no pay)

• Recurring Income:Write a book, Purchase a vending machine, Buy a franchise, Invest in (and hire out) property and Multi-level marketing.

Michelle concluded her talk by telling her audience that “Network marketing differs vastly from 1 company to the next. The real question here is: WHEN will YOU join this global MLM phenomenon?”

After Michelle’s talk each of the networkers were given the opportunity to present themselves and their business in a 30-second ‘elevator pitch ’, followed by some lucky draws, networking, sharing of business cards and enjoying some refreshments.

Lorge: Ready to make waves at Botswana’s Premier International Exhibition

~ Global Expo Botswana ~ 2016 ~

04 November 2016
- By Genesis Articles Global

Introduction

Lorge Consulting Services will be joining a host of key industry stakeholders, international and regional business delegates and strategic role-players gathering in Botswana, from the 23rd to the 26th November 2016. They will be attending the 11th Edition of the country’s premier business-to-business (b2b) and multi-sectoral exposition held in Gaborone and hosted by none other than the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC). This calendar-highlight event, known as the Global Expo Botswana (2016), will attract thousands of exhibitors and attendees over its four day duration.

Why is Lorge Participating?

Responding to a personal invitation, Lorge is strategically positioned to participate at a major trade and investment platform of this nature. As a specialist provider of Business Management (BMS) and Business Intelligence (BI) Solutions for the past 30 years, Lorge continues to enjoy a growing footprint in Southern Africa. The theme of this years Global Expo Botswana, being Unlocking Opportunities for Economic Growth, is one that is firmly endorsed by the dedicated Lorge team. This is reflected in the company’s loyal and expanding client-base, including progressive enterprises operating in various sectors of Botswana’s economy.

Benefits to Exhibitors and Attendees at Global Expo Botswana

There are a host of mutual and exhibitor-specific benefits that expo participants and attendees can look forward to. Likewise, there are several positive reasons why Lorge has specifically chosen to be represented at the expo this year:

  • Organisations that rely on customised BMS and BI software solutions can personally meet with Lorge representatives and discuss their individual needs. This includes enterprises seeking supply and implementation of Sage X3, Sage 300, Sage CRM, Sage X3 People and Qlikview business and technology solutions.
  • Prospective suppliers and organisations with synergistic intentions will also have the unique opportunity to network with company representatives and engage in meaningful discussions over the 4 day period.
  • Existing customers, associates and networks in Botswana, already collaborating with Lorge, will also have an opportunity to meet with company representatives at the exhibition.
  • Forward-facing local and foreign-based entities already operating in Botswana or those intending on entering the market, will be able to draw on Lorge’s extensive BMS and BI expertise in Southern Africa. Furthermore, Lorge prides itself on providing cutting-edge solutions that are adaptable, scalable as well as industry or business-specific. Again, the expo provides the ideal platform to speak directly with Lorge representatives and make relevant enquiries.

Why Botswana is the Ideal Host

Lorge is dedicated to offering sustainable software solutions that enable businesses to streamline their processes, maximise their efficiencies and optimise their competitive advantages. In order to achieve this, in an intensely competitive and demanding market, the company strategically aligns with current trends. This approach fosters the accurate delivery of customised solutions, which meet the present-day needs of enterprises in evolving markets.   For organisations that are seeking quality-engineered BMS and BI solutions and would like to expand their footprint in Botswana as well as other markets in SADC, here are a few reasons why Botswana is the perfect location for a multi-industrial expo on this scale:

  • The country is ideally situated in Southern Africa, being more or less geographically central in SADC. The location therefore serves as a strong gateway into other parts of the SADC region, while also affording preferential market access into SACU, EU, MERCUSOR and US markets.
  • The prospective local market, estimates a substantial populous of around 200 million people.
  • The country displays impressive political and economic stability that stands out in the continent of Africa.
  • The country has a low tax regime, there are no foreign exchange controls and sovereign credit ratings (Moody’s, Standard & Poor, World Bank ease of Doing Business, Transparency International and so forth) compare favourably to other African nations.

Why choose Lorge?

There are a host of reasons why Lorge has become the supplier of choice for a growing number of enterprises in Southern Africa. Recently Lorge also participated at the Finance Indaba 2016, where the CFO’s and key stakeholders of thousands of organisations had the opportunity to learn more about the incredible advantages of the software solutions offered. Here are a few more reasons why Lorge has earned an undisputed reputation as a market leader and award-winning specialist in its field:
