Published: 05 September 2016

KEY POINTS

  • Durable and stylish: Features a durable aluminium construction in three vibrant colours, with honeycomb-inspired patterning on the keyboard surround
  • Versatile reversible hinge: New reversible magnetic hinge enables four convenient modes — laptop, tablet, tent and stand
  • Ultraportable and compact: Tablet weighs only 580g, or just 1.08kg with the keyboard attached
  • Bright, sharp and clear display: High-resolution anti-glare display with up to 400cd/m2 brightness and wide 178° viewing angles

Johannesburg, South Africa - ASUS has announced Transformer Book T101, the latest addition to its successful series of 2-in-1 detachable laptops. The 10.1-inch Transformer Book T101 has a premium metallic design and is light and compact, weighing only 580g as a tablet or just 1.08kg with the keyboard attached. It features a reversible magnetic hinge that allows its display to be flipped over, giving the convenience of four versatile modes: a conventional lightweight laptop, a handy tablet, tent mode for easy screen-sharing, and stand mode as a personal movie theatre. With its incredibly long up to 11-hour battery life, dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, full-size USB port, and complete Windows 10 functionality, Transformer Book T101 is the ideal mobile companion.

Durable and stylish

ASUS Transformer Book T101 is stylish and elegant, with a premium all-aluminium tablet and a keyboard surround that features a chic honeycomb-inspired textured pattern. The aluminium construction not only looks great, but it makes Transformer Book T101 more durable and resistant to everyday knocks and bumps than rival products with a cheaper plastic construction. Lightweight aluminium also allows Transformer Book T101’s tablet to be very slim and light at only 580g, making it ideal as a mobile lifestyle companion. The device is available in three vibrant colours: Rose Gold, Mint Green and Glacier Gray.

Versatile reversible hinge

ASUS Transformer Book T101 features a reversible magnetic hinge connecting the tablet and keyboard. This solidly-engineered hinge allows the tablet to be detached, flipped over and reattached, giving two convenient extra modes in addition to the standard laptop and tablet configurations. Tent mode is great for sharing the screen contents with a group of people, while stand mode turns Transformer Book T101 into a compact personal movie theatre.

Powerful, precisely positioned magnets ensure that the tablet can be attached quickly and accurately with minimal effort. To ensure long-term reliability, the reversible hinge has been rigorously tested with a 25,000-cycle mechanical hinge-swing test. The slim keyboard has ergonomic keys with a 1.5mm key travel— longer than that of most mobile keyboards, and the same as a full-size laptop. This long key travel provides more reassuring feedback for every key strike and replicates the comfortable typing experience of a full-size laptop. The keyboard also features a Precision Touchpad with support for Windows gestures. This touchpad has palm-rejection technology that intelligently recognizes and ignores accidental presses of the palm during typing, allowing users to rest their hands naturally and comfortably while typing.

Clear, sharp and bright display

The anti-glare touchscreen display on ASUS Transformer Book T101 has a sharp 1280 by 800 resolution, and with up to 400cd/m2 brightness it is one of the brightest 10.1-inch displays. It has wide 178° viewing angles, and ASUS TruVivid direct-bonding technology ensures higher transparency and improved clarity, with fewer reflections in bright environments — even in bright sunlight. Exclusive ASUS Tru2Life video-enhancement technology — similar to that found in high-end TVs — uses intelligent software algorithms to optimise the sharpness and contrast of every video frame, so that videos look clearer, more detailed and more realistic.

Powerful components

Inside its compact chassis ASUS Transformer Book T101 packs powerful components that include the latest quad-core Intel® Atom™ X5 Series (‘Cherry Trail’) processor, up to 4GB of RAM, up to 128GB eMMC storage, a micro SD Card reader that can support up to 512GB cards, and fast dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi. These components operate in complete silence thanks to Transformer Book T101’s fan-less design, allowing users to work or play without distracting noises. It also comes with a more comprehensive set of connectors than other similar-sized devices. These include a full-size (Type-A ) USB 2.0 port, a micro HDMI display port, and a micro USB port that can also be used for charging the device. The micro USB port also supports charging from external power banks, enabling users to extend the already impressive up to 11-hour battery life even further, for true all-day convenience.

A one-year unlimited subscription to ASUS WebStorage is included with Transformer Book T101, allowing users to store and access their files from all their devices, anywhere and anytime.

An amazing Windows experience

ASUS Transformer Book T101 supports Cortana, the innovative Windows personal assistant that allows natural interaction via its powerful voice-recognition technology. Transformer Book T101 also supports Windows 10 Continuum, which automatically detects if the keyboard is attached and reconfigures itself for the ideal user experience as a laptop or tablet. Transformer Book T101 also comes with Microsoft Office Mobile pre-installed, giving users immediate access to the powerful Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, PowerPoint Mobile and OneNote apps.

Spur CSI programme reaches more than 30 000 children

Published: 03 June 2016

Johannesburg - The Spur Soccer Masidlale Programme concluded after 17 weeks instilling essential life skills into young lives and reaching more than 30 000 children within historically disadvantaged areas since its inception in 2005.

Bellavista Creche, an NPO located in Bellavista East was the charity who won the R10 000 prize yesterday at the finals played in Soweto.

What started out as 12 one-day soccer clinics involving 10-12 year olds, has grown into a fully-fledged annual soccer league in the main metropolitan areas of Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth.

One of Spur’s corporate social investment aims is to use sport to uplift communities. The central venues are selected in historically disadvantaged areas where school sport participation is low. The Masidlale Programme fills this gap.

Each one of the cities had 200 players (100 girls and 100 boys) taking part who come from 10 local schools. The teams are given Spur-branded soccer kits which they can keep. Primary schools that have participated per region were as follows:

Kwa-Zulu Natal

  • Zandile
  • Emthetweni
  • Inkonkoni
  • Zwelesithembiso
  • Thamela
  • Isipingo
  • Lindelani
  • Mzwilili
  • Fundakakhle
  • Phila

Winning schools were Zandile (boys) and Inkonkoni (girls).

  • Enkwenkwezini
  • Elundini
  • Dumani
  • Elufefeni
  • Fumisikoma
  • Melisizwe
  • Zanoxolo
  • Ikhwezelihle
  • Mpumalanga
  • Siyaphambili

Winning schools were Enkwenkweni (boys) and Elufefeni (girls).

Cape Town

  • Lwazi
  • Luzuko
  • Lehlohonolo
  • Ilitha
  • Mseki
  • Vukukhanya
  • Sokhanyo
  • Sonwabo
  • Vuyane
  • Xolani

Winning schools were Sonwabo (boys) and Lwazi (girls).

Johannesburg

  • JB Marks
  • Julius Sebolayi
  • Bonamelo
  • Braamfischer
  • Nkoni Maruping
  • Obed Mosiane
  • Moses Kotane
  • Mayibuye
  • Khulanolwazi
  • Kid Maponya

Winning schools were Julius Sebolai (boys) and Obed Mosiane (girls).

According to Khakhi Diala, Brand Activation Manager of the Spur Group, sport teaches us more than just physical skills; sport is a metaphor for life. That is why Spur has included a life skills programme to run alongside the soccer league.

“Spur Steak Ranches is again proud to have completed a very successful Spur Soccer Masidlale program for the 11th Year now, 800 boys and girls from four provinces duly benefited from the skills development and life skills elements that they went through” We are also proud to have donated R10 000 to a needy charity”, added Khakhi.

Fifty mentors per league met with their groups every two weeks to explore essential skills needed to excel in life. The mentors teach self-esteem, positive behaviour changes and wise decision making. They equip the children beyond the sports field into home and school life. 20 girls and 20 boys are then chosen for further mentoring.

The main prize for the winning team is that they become mascots at PSL games.

To ensure the lessons go further into the schools, Spur has a Masidlale Coaching Programme for the school coaches. These are run by accredited coaching facilitators who train 30 coaches from four provinces.

Interactive Sport is involved with the mentoring programme which extends to the coaches and one teacher per school.

Masidlale means “let’s play” in Xhosa. So the programme’s aim is to change lives through play.

As Heinz Brunner, manager of the SA National Culinary Team, says: “Travel is necessary to ensure that the team can practise together and then go back to their restaurants and perfect their dishes through including them on their own menus.” The team will practise at different venues every two months.

“We are training hard, developing an exceptional menu and working as a team to produce world-class food that represents South Africa’s culinary scene with excellence. We couldn’t do this without our fantastic sponsors and partners. Hair Detangler School SA Reveals Good News For Women With Tangled Matted Hair

Published: 27 January 2015

Johannesburg, South Africa ( January 27, 2015) - Women with severely, matted and tangled hair can breathe a sigh of relief, following Hair Detangler School’s revelation of a new product they have been using to effectively treat hairs of this nature.

Hair Detangler School SA offers professional detangling service, unique to Africa, for those who want to get rid of tangles and mats in their hair without cutting their mane.

The Take Down Remover cream is and American product and the only one that the professional’s at Hair Detangler School SA  use.  They do not use conditioner, glycerin, or water based products-as it makes severely matted/tangled hair worse.

Apart from effectively treating tangled, matted hair, the Take Down Remover Cream can be used in the detangling of dreadlocks, braids, sew-in weaves, twists and extensions.  It is also excellent option for the removal of bonding glue and keratin heat fusion bonds.

Senior Detangle Tech Trainers at Hair Detangler School SA state that "Most hairdressers just want to cut very matted tangled hair. They do not know about the Take Down Remover or the techniques needed to successfully detangle. Furthermore, they just can't be bothered with devoting a day or two days to detangling hair." Also they emphasize that "We do, however, train hairdressers who want to learn."

Improved Dreadlock Removal Process Developed

Published: 24 January 2015

23, January 2015 –Dreadlock Removal Process Now Made Easy with the Take Down® Remover

The Take Down® Removers is the #1 Best Braid, Weave, Extension and Dreadlock Remover. This is a dry hair detangler which works fast in softening the hair.

The cream prevents any type of breakage during the process of detangling. It offers wonderful results on hair that has not been combed or brushed for a long period. Hair that has become extremely dry and matted can now be softened with the help of this excellent cream. The gentle cream penetrates through the hair and softens each and every strand as and when it is being combed.

Imagine the amount of time and effort it would take to remove the knots and clumps out of that matted and tangled hair. Take Down® Remover is definitely a great relief from pain as well as a feasible solution that offers excellent results.

The cream should be used directly on the matted hair before shampooing. Shampooing the matted hair would lead to more stubborn knots and clumps. It would also create masses of tangled matted hair. All that the users need here is this Detangler Cream, a wide tooth comb, a rat tail comb and of course lots of patience.

Users have to massage and soak the hair with the cream without wetting the hair. The knots, balls or clumps can be picked using the rat tail comb. The strands of hair can be slowly pulled out using the pin tip of the comb. If the hair to too tangled, users may wish to use extra cream – the more the better. This would weaken the matted knots and clumps.

The hair can be shampooed once it is completely detangled. A wide tooth comb can be used to remove all the knots and mats now. The hair can be conditioned with an excellent conditioner at the end.

Even the worst dreadlocks, twists, hair extensions and dread extensions can be detangled easily with the help of this dreadlock remover. Hair restoration is now easy and simple with this excellent product. It is time to say no to painful processes and those time taking sessions to detangle the extremely impossible tangled hair.
