Body Maps at David Krut Projects for World AIDS Day

{pp}ImageFrom 22 November David Krut Projects will show Body Maps by the Bambanani Women. The Bambanani Women were invited to tell their stories of living with HIV/AIDS through a community outreach program initiated by the AIDS and Society Research Unit of the University of Cape Town (ASRU) and Médecins Sans Frontières.

The rumour of a Marlene Dumas exhibition in Cape Town has at last been confirmed as fact: a Dumas exhibition entitled, Intimate Relations, has been scheduled at the National Gallery for November. Dumas has lived in Amsterdam for decades but has kept close ties with South Africa and the Cape, where she was born, and so a dedicated Dumas show is eagerly anticipated.

Citizens and voters in South Africa should be very concerned by the ANC’s recent grabs at power.

Prinsloo, who is making several special ceramic pieces for the launch, will be present to sign books. Launch starts at 11h00 at David Krut Projects, 142 Jan Smuts Avenue, Parkwood, Johannesburg. ‘Points For Departure’ In ‘Points For Departure’ ceramicist Dina Prinsloo documents her life’s work through a sumptuous collection of photographs, text, diagrams and notes. The book documents Prinsloo’s collaborations with prominent South African architects in which she has created sculptural objects and containers that become extensions of site and the built structure.

Fashion and Art Merge: Strangelove at David Krut

{pp}David Krut Projects is pleased to host an exhibition by the award-winning design label Strangelove. In this collaboration with David Krut Print Workshop, Strangelove has used some of their more conceptual pattern pieces to create a series of limited-edition prints. Printmaker Jillian Ross has turned the layered patterns into delicate works on paper, preserving their sculptural quality through embossing.

There are quite a few technical details to take care of when preparing a book like this for press, especially since we are making a small deluxe edition with a few special features. The book will be ready for the Cape Town opening of the opera on September 8th.

In 2006, three curators began to collect the testimonies of the men and women who had been imprisoned at the notorious Old Fort Prison under the apartheid regime.
