Inspired Education Group appointments

Following recent global acquisitions, Inspired Education Group (IEG) has made some changes in their African portfolio with appointments in two roles in South Africa.

Ravi Nadasen, who has been the CEO of Inspired South Africa since March 2020, will now also oversee Inspired Education Group’s schools in Kenya as CEO Africa. BothBrookhouse School Runda and Brookhouse School Karen have been added to his portfolio of responsibilities which already included overseeing the eight Reddam House Schools around South Africa and three Reddford House Schools located in Gauteng. The Inspired Schools in Kenya have long been global flagships for the region and under the longstanding leadership of John O’Connor, will continue to thrive in the years to come.

Ravi Nadasen, former Chief Operations Officer for the leading African hospitality group; Tsogo Sun Hotels, was appointed as Chief Executive Officer for the Inspired Education Group in South Africa in August 2020. Nadasen role encompasses leading the operations for schools which form part of the prominent global network that provides a world class education to more than 65,000 students in 80 countries.

Nadasen joined Tsogo Sun Hotels in 1996 as a Junior Manager and rose through the ranks being appointed as General Manager for a few of the group’s hotels across the country before taking up the Operations Director role overseeing a cluster of hotels. In 2017, he was appointed as the COO for the group responsible for the Operations, Sales, Marketing, IT, Development and Distribution functions for the entire group.

Having been on the board of Cape Town Tourism and a board member of the CT Chamber of Commerce while in Cape Town, he was also the interim Chairperson of South African Tourism and the Deputy Chairperson and board member of the Tourism Business Council of SA. He was reappointed by the Minister of Tourism for a second term as a member of the B-BBEE Charter Council to advise on the state of transformation in industry.

Robbie Taylor, BCom, CA(Z), has been appointed as the new CFO Africa from 1 September. Robbie studied at the University of Cape Town before becoming a chartered accountant in Zimbabwe. He has spent many years as a successful CFO in a number of large consumer-focused organisations in South Africa, working as part of the team which drove the public listing of Country Bird Holdings and health and well-being company, Ascendis Health and more recently as the CFO of Travel Start. Alongside this he has set up and run his own financial consulting business since 2016 focusing on boutique mergers and acquisitions in the education and travel sector.

Following a stint as Group FD of Crest Breeders International (Pvt) Ltd in Zimbabwe, he emigrated to South Africa in 2002. He then joined HL Hall and Sons Limited as their Financial Director with appointments on all of the subsidiary boards. His management expertise was recognised, and he was then appointed as Exports Director from 2002 to 2006. Robbie served as Group Financial Director of Country Bird Holdings Limited and served as its Chief Financial Officer from 2006 to 2012. He was an Executive Director of Ascendis Health Limited from 2012 until 2015. He has participated in the Executive Development Programme at GIBS and qualified as a CA with Deloitte and Touche in Zimbabwe in 1995.
