Preparations for Mandela kick a month before the big day

Written by: Save to Instapaper

With a month to go till Nelson Mandela Day it seems as though its all systems go with the SprinAge team of Neliswa Fente and Raelene Rorke, two Eastern Cape born ambassodars for change, these two ladies are taking their year old project SpringAge back home for a second time on Mandela day, and what better way to celebrate Mandela day than at his birth place of Qunu village.

18 July 2012 is set to be a memorable day for 45 learners from surrounding high schools, who will spend the day with these transformers of industry.

SpringAGE organizes and facilitates SpringBREAKs.  These are practical Think Tanks - where carefully recruited group of young South African self-starters come together to share, explore, and develop ideas that will impact business, government and civil society.

SpringBREAKS are about engaging young South Africans who are taking charge of their own lives, dreams and goals and in so doing, assist in tackling some of our country’s biggest priorities.

Using Open Space Technology, we engage on topics that are important to the group as well as South Africa. The process allows free thought, sharing and co-creation of next steps and creative solutions that will make a positive difference in SA. Ideas and projects born out of SpringBREAKs, are of a global nature, are scalability and are able to impact the youth unemployment challenge in South Africa.
