Clover’s flagship CSI project honoured at Gender Mainstreaming Awards
Submitted by: MyPressportal TeamClover Mama Afrika, Clover’s flagship CSI project, won the Empowerment of Women in the Community Award in the JSE-listed category, at the Gender Mainstreaming Awardsin Midrand.
This award identifies and acknowledges businesses that have policies and procedures in place that implement sustainable initiatives around poverty alleviation, which improves skills and provides sustainable income opportunities that positively impacts the lives of women and poor communities across South Africa.
Clover Mama Afrika does exactly that.
The project places a strong emphasis on assisting women in disadvantaged communities to learn to help themselves so that they may regain their pride, establish self-sustaining livelihoods and become valuable members of their communities and to society at large.
“This is such a proud moment for us and all our mamas. We believe women are the backbone of our households and communities and these Mamas are not only aware of the needs of their communities, but they actively address those needs in whatever way possible,” says Professor Elain Vlok, manager of Corporate Services at Clover and founder of Clover Mama Afrika.
