YesPlay partners with Western Province Cricket for a new chapter at Newlands

Four-year partnership sees YesPlay become title sponsor of Newlands Cape Town and the Western Province Cobras

CAPE TOWN – YesPlay is proud to announce a landmark four-year partnership with Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA), becoming the title sponsor of Newlands Cape Town and the Western Province Cobras.

The partnership comes at an important moment for Western Province Cricket, with new identities being unveiled for both the iconic Newlands venue and the newly established Western Province Cobras, signalling renewed energy, investment and ambition across the organisation.

The partnership also reflects a natural connection between the two organisations. Headquartered in Cape Town and fully licensed by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board, YesPlay has strong roots in the province and a growing commitment to supporting the communities in which it operates. The partnership with Western Province Cricket builds on that connection, bringing together two organisations with strong local roots and an ambition to contribute to the future of the Western Cape.

Few sporting venues are as recognisable as Newlands. Framed by Table Mountain, surrounded by its famous oak trees and shaped by more than 135 years of sporting history, the venue has become synonymous with unforgettable cricketing moments and the unique character of Cape Town.

As YesPlay Newlands, the venue will enter this new chapter with continued investment in the supporter and visitor experience. Recent and planned improvements include upgraded hospitality facilities, enhanced seating and accessibility, new lift infrastructure, improvements to the sound and EVAC systems, upgraded food and beverage facilities and further investment in player and match official areas.

The 2026/27 season will bring an exciting programme of international and domestic cricket to Newlands, including tours by Australia, Bangladesh, India Women and England, as well as the New Year’s Test, Pro20 and domestic cricket.

Alongside the new venue identity, Western Province Cricket is also bringing together two proud cricketing legacies with the launch of the YesPlay Western Province Cobras.  The new professional identity unites the province’s men’s and women’s teams under one brand, bringing together the heritage of Western Province and the achievements and emotional connection of the Cape Cobras.

As the 2026/27 season gets underway, YesPlay and Western Province Cricket will begin a new chapter together, one that celebrates the history of the game while creating new opportunities for the future.
