Written by: Janet de Kretser Save to Instapaper

Ster-Kinekor is springing straight into September with some of your favourite movie titles from back in the day. And, with tickets priced at R50, Throwback Cinema should be marked down as a weekly event in your diary!

Throwback Cinema titles each screen for a week, from Friday to Thursday, and are proving to be a popular cinema experience for movie lovers. Audiences are invited to relive some of the most iconic movies of the past few decades on the big screen – the way they were made to be seen – with an affordable ticket price.

This month’s line-up offers something for everyone, from thrilling espionage to laugh-out-loud comedy.

The forever suave and cool Bond returns to the big screen from 19 September when the 2008 classic, James Bond: Quantum of Solace returns to the big screen with Daniel Craig as 007 in this high-octane spy thriller. Fuelled by betrayal and revenge, Bond uncovers a sinister global conspiracy while delivering all the action, intrigue, and glamour fans have come to expect from the world’s most famous secret agent.

The final title for the month, releasing from 26 September, is sure to put a smile on your face. The 40-Year-Old Virgin, first released in 2005, is a comedy favourite. Directed by Judd Apatow, it stars Steve Carell as a shy electronics store clerk whose friends set out to help him end his accidental celibacy. Packed with outrageous humour and unexpected heart, this is the perfect watch to bring September to a close.
