The Last Falke Full Moon Hike Of The Season 8 March
Submitted by: jen scholtz scholtzCape Town March 2020 – Experience the sights, sounds and sensations of nature at dusk when sock specialists Falke once again partner with Dirtopia to bring you the last sunset hike of the season on the 8th of March. After 15 seasons of Falke full moon hikes, from Delvera Farm near Stellenbosch, these events remain popular amongst Capetonians and tourists alike. A very special experience and a popular group, and family, activity with a spectacular sunset over Table Mountain and a view of the Winelands makes the hike to the top of Klapmutskop a wonderful adventure!
Starting from the Dirtopia Trail Centre, it will take approximately 90min to reach the top. To ensure you have the full experience it is recommended to arrive at 17h00 and not start the climb later than 18h15. The sunsets at 19h13 with the moonrise at 18h47. Optional shuttle service is available to transport children and elderly hikers to the start of the shorter 4,5km route from the famous Pepper Tree.
The 9.75km Dirtopia Vineyard Trail is set in The Simonsberg Conservancy. The circular trail meanders through the vineyards, Renosterveld Conservancy and the majestic Yellow Wood Forest to summit Klapmutskop at 523m. With panoramic views of the Winelands and Cape Town and, of course, spectacular sunsets and moonrises.
The cost for the Falke Full Moon Hike at Delvera is R120 for adults and R60 for children under the age of 10 and includes shuttles, permits and a map. Klapmutskop is part of Simonsberg Conservancy and part of the permit goes towards this non-profit organisation. For this reason, no dogs are allowed. Torches (which are also for sale at the Trail Centre) and something warm to wear are recommended for the walk down. Please remember this is a hike so, for your convenience and safety, it is recommended that you wear hiking appropriate shoes.
Bookings should be made in advance at the Dirtopia Trail Centre to avoid disappointment as space is limited. You are welcome to pack your own food or snacks and drinks can be purchased at the trail centre. Bookings and enquiries can be made via the website www.dirtopia.co.za or call 078 343 3572.
