Johannesburg Expo Centre – In an action-packed finals day, Team Highborn emerged victorious at the Monster Call of Duty Tournament at rAge Expo.
The team faced a challenging path to the finals, initially losing to Nixuh in the first round and being relegated to the loser’s bracket. However, Highborn battled back, defeating Elxvate in a closely contested match, followed by a decisive victory against Aerial BO6.
In the grand finale, they faced Nixuh once more and pulled off a thrilling win.
“On Friday, we lost the game to the team we met in the finals, Nixuh, which put us in the losing bracket,” said Highborn captain Cayden "Heroz" Beadsworth. “However, we bounced back, took on the competition, and managed to win it all. It’s been an intense journey, but we carried on and made it happen.”
Tournament Highlights
The tournament, hosted by Monster and Mettlestate, featured the top four teams from online qualifiers, who were invited to compete at the Monster Energy stand at rAge. The teams battled for a share of the R10,000 prize pool.
“The vibe at the Monster Energy rig was incredible,” said Beadsworth. “The energy was electric, with great music, fantastic giveaways, and an amazing atmosphere. The staff around us was super helpful. Honestly, we couldn’t have asked for anything better.”
A Turning Point for Highborn
Highborn had moments of uncertainty during the competition but ultimately triumphed.
“We threw the first lap when we really shouldn’t have, and we missed the fourth lap, too,” admitted Beadsworth. “It was tight, but we pulled through in the end.”
For Beadsworth, this victory marks a significant milestone.
“This is a new season for me,” said Beadsworth. “I joined Highborn without ever having played with them before. These are incredibly talented young players, some of whom had never won a LAN event. To win alongside them is an amazing feeling. I’m stoked for them, myself, and Highborn as a team.”
Congratulations, Team Highborn!
Congratulations to Highborn on their well-deserved victory and the R10,000 prize.
