Capegate crowns MTN SHIFT Gaming Experience last heats winners ahead of finals at Canal Walk

With the national finals at Canal Walk just days away, the second last round of qualifiers locked in their spots in South Africa’s biggest gaming tournament with over R250k in prizes.
The second-last stop in South Africa’s biggest mall-based gaming tournament brought serious competition to Cape Town, with one final chance to qualify still to come.
This past weekend, Capegate hosted the penultimate leg of the MTN SHIFT Gaming Experience, drawing local players hungry for a shot at the national stage. With high-pressure matches across EAFC 25™, Beat Saber, Rocket League and more, winners walked away with Capegate gift cards and a place in the spotlight. After a packed weekend of competition, the top performers emerged:
EAFC 25™ National Football Tournament
1st: Masoom Fakie (28, Cape Town) – won a R2 500 Capegate Shopping Centre Gift Card and a place in the grand final at Canal Walk
2nd: Luke Gabriel (25, Cape Town) – won a R1 500 Capegate Shopping Centre Gift Card
3rd: Ishmael Safodien (27, Cape Town) – won a R1 000 Capegate Shopping Centre Gift Card

Capegate marks the seventh of eight Hyprop malls to host this year’s MTN SHIFT Gaming Experience, with a total prize pool of over R250 000 shared amongst finalists and winners nationwide.
The final round of regional heats kicks off at Canal Walk from 17 to 20 September, followed by the National Finals on 21 September – where the country’s top players will face off for ultimate bragging rights.
