SAZA Launches New Book at ICON 2016
Written by: MyPressportal Team Save to InstapaperAuthor and founder of South African Zombie Apocalypsebrand launches new novel, Zombie ZA, at Icon Comics and Games Convention
ICON, South Africa’s longest running games and comics convention, will play host to the launch of the latest South African Zombie Apocalypse (SAZA) novel by Lee Herrmann from 24 – 26 June 2016.Zombie ZA: Living as the Undead in South Africa is the third novel by Herrmann and is a light-hearted look at how the newly-infected can blend into the South African landscape while waiting for the looming zombie Apocalypse to catch up.
‘We’ve done a story about the zombie apocalypse in South Africa, and also a survival guide, so it made sense to do something from the opposite perspective: how do you cope with being a zombie in a unique country like South Africa?’ says Herrmann who’s previous titles include Journal of a South African Zombie Apocalypse and The South African Zombie Apocalypse Survival Guide. ‘We look at the physical changes you’ll go through and provide sage advice on how to cope at social events like braais or weddings, and even how to tell your unsuspecting family. Being infected is hard enough, it’s blending in where the real work comes in.’
Along with the book SAZA are launching SAZU, the first South African Zombie Union where zombies can unite and demand equal rights for the undead. ‘There’s a union for workers, why not zombies?’ says Herrmann. ‘Anyone can join and become a card-carrying member of SAZA. Simply visitwww.saza.co.za/joinSAZU and you’ll be sent your own membership card to the union. We’ll also be selling SAZU shirts and badges at ICON for everyone to join the cause.’
SAZA (South African Zombie Apocalypse) is the brainchild of Herrmann and long-time collaborator Stephen Lewis and is described as ‘ground zero for all things zombie.’ SAZA serves as an umbrella brand for zombie fiction and merchandise in the ever-growing genre. All three books will be on sale at ICON and the author will be available for signings. On Sunday, 26 June at 14:00 Lee Herrmann will be on the main stage talking about his newest release and answering questions about the Zombie Apocalypse.
ICON Comics and Games Convention is South Africa’s longest running comic and games convention and takes place at Gallagher Convention Centre from 24 – 26 June. Doors open at 9am. For more information visit www.iconcgc.co.za
