New Art Era for The Gallery at Grande Provence

As of September The Gallery will be under the curatorial and management of Trent Read who is celebrating 40 years of art dealing in 2013.
Comments Trent Read: “I have long admired Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate as one of the most beautiful spaces in the country and I am honoured to have been invited to manage The Gallery.”
Mr. Read and his management team, Sandy Bekker and Corlie de Kock who will be the curator at Grande Provence will exhibit artists ranging from established talents like Angus Taylor, Deborah Bell, Lionel Smit and Leon Vermeulen and emerging young artists such as Phillemon Hlungwani, Jacki McInnes and Nico Masemolo as well as artists from Europe and America.
A carefully selected group of South African masters such as Irma Stern, J.H. Pierneef and Hugo Naude will also be available to collectors.
The Shop adjacent to The Gallery will house African artefacts, photography and smaller collectibles as well as a superb range of designer jewellery by Ilse Malan from Pretoria. The Gallery will offer advice to clients on collecting, conservation and restoration as well as valuations for insurance and probate.
Mr. Read, the son of the late Everard Read, who was the doyen of South African art dealers, worked at Christie’s of London for some years and then ran the family business in Johannesburg as well as living and running a gallery in the USA.
The Estate proudly offers guests The Owner’s Cottage, La Provençale, The Restaurant, The Winery, The Jonkershuis, The Gallery, The Sculpture Garden and The Shop Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate is a sister property to Huka Lodge, New Zealand and Dolphin Island, Fiji (members of Relais & Châteaux), with all three exclusive properties comprising The Huka Retreats.
