Kurland Honours Earth Hour 2013

Kurland Hotel situated in the Crags near Plettenberg Bay, a proud member of the Relais & Châteaux Association, will celebrate Earth Hour this year on Saturday 23 March 2013 by creating a gourmet dinner braai at 19:30 at a cost of R260.00 per adult and just R80.00 for kids.

Rather than turning off the lights throughout the Estate for one hour, between the 20:30 – 21:30 time slot, which would not be viable, Executive Chef, Leon Coetzee will create a gourmet braai instead of using conventional cooking methods in order to honour Mother Nature. Alien wood will be used on the braai that has been sourced from alien trees on the Estate over the past few months.

This gourmet dinner braai, with multiple options for vegetarians, will take place on the Estate from 19:00 until late. Some of the many mouth-watering choices on the braai are prawns skewers, braaied mushrooms with gorgonzola and steak and lamb chops. Desserts will be plated later in the evening where guests will have their choice of chocolate fondant or lemon grass panna cotta with pickled ginger.

Some of the many eco initiatives Kurland Hotel has implemented over the years include recycling, turning lights off in unoccupied areas, using recycled, biodegradable bin bags, an impressive organic herb and vegetable garden and the bee hives that were brought in during 2012.
