London Clubbing Institution fabric Announces Landmark Return to South Africa in January 2027

London clubbing institution fabric is set to return to South Africa in January 2027, bringing two landmark shows to Johannesburg and Cape Town in partnership with Sub Sahara, following the overwhelming response to its previous South African events.

On Friday 15 January, fabric take over Carfax in Johannesburg, one of the city’s most established cultural and nightlife spaces, for a full fabric showcase. Joining us for the night are Daniel Avery, Desiree, HAAi and Midland, alongside more local artists still to be announced. Based in Newtown, one of Johannesburg’s historic cultural districts, Carfax has been a fixture of the city’s creative and underground music scene since 1995. The former industrial space has evolved into a multidisciplinary venue for music, art and creative culture, with its raw warehouse setting becoming synonymous with the city’s independent nightlife.

The following night, Saturday 16 January, fabric head to Cape Town’s Castle of Good Hope for the second time. The 17th-century fort and oldest surviving building in South Africa will once again be transformed through fabric’s touring visual show, with large-scale projection mapping covering the castle walls and courtyards in shifting light, colour and motion. Historic architecture becomes the backdrop for a night of contemporary club culture, bringing together music, visual production and one of the city’s most distinctive settings. The Cape Town lineup sees Daniel Avery, HAAi, Heidi and Midland take over the Castle, with more artists to be announced. Last year sold out, fabric expects the same this year.

Following the response to its previous South African shows, the January 2027 events will continue fabric and Sub Sahara’s collaboration in bringing international electronic music talent together with South Africa’s thriving club and creative culture.

Meet The Headliners:

Daniel Avery
A long-standing friend of fabric, Daniel Avery has played the club numerous times and delivered FABRICLIVE 66 in 2012. Best known for his acclaimed Drone Logic album and work through Phantasy Sound, he makes his South African debut in January. He says: “My first time in South Africa and what better way than with the fabric family. I’ll see you down the front.”

Desiree
Born and raised in South Africa, Desiree has since made her mark on London’s house and techno scene, with a genre-spanning approach to the dancefloor and her work through MMINO. She rarely plays in Johannesburg these days, making her return to the city a special homecoming.

HAAi
One of the UK’s most distinctive contemporary electronic artists, HAAi moves between house, techno, breaks and experimental sounds. A regular at fabric, she makes her South African debut across both nights.

Heidi
A pioneering figure in house and techno, Heidi has been part of the fabric story for many years, from her Phonica Records roots to numerous appearances at the club. Known globally for her Jackathon parties and BBC Radio 1 work, she returns to South Africa for the Cape Town show.

Midland
A long-standing fabric favourite, Midland has played the club extensively and delivered FABRICLIVE 94 in 2017. Known for his eclectic approach to house, techno and electro, he makes his South African debut in January.
