First downhill Toboggan Track in Africa opens 30 June 2007
Written by: Toboggan Fun Park (Pty) Ltd Save to Instapaper{pp}The much awaited Cool-Runnings toboggan track opens on Saturday 30 June 2007 on the hillside opposite the Bellville Velodrome, in the northern suburbs of Cape Town. All rides are FREE on this day 9am-6pm (weather permitting).
The 1.2km Cool-Runnings steel toboggan run is the first in Africa and is the summer version of snow tobogganing. At speeds regulated by a special braking system, the nifty bob sled whizzes down the winding track to the bottom of the hill, where it is hooked from underneath and taken back up to the top. It’s fast, it’s fun and it’s FREE for the whole family at the opening special on Sat 30 June 2007.Thereafter prices are astoundingly low with a single child ticket costing only R10, three rides for R25, one-day unlimited pass for only R50, and 3-months unlimited rides for a mere R100. With the philosophy that this adventure activity should be affordable to all, Cool Runnings have priced the activity to appeal to a wide audience.Safety is considered paramount, and this toboggan system is tried and tested at over 200 tracks worldwide and is suitable for over 8 yr olds to go down alone. It’s Cape Town’s turn to for some downhill fun and Cool Runnings is open every day from Saturday 30 June 9am-6pm.
