First Car Rental Winners Rap their Way to R16 000 Prize

Last month, First Car Rental called on all South Africans to unleash their inner hip-hop superstar by entering the fun #FirstRap competition in celebration of the company’s 16th year in business.

The competition encouraged people to take videos of themselves rapping First Car Rental’s Birthday Rap song and posting it to Facebook to stand a chance to win the R16000 prize. People also had the chance of winning a second R16K lucky draw prize by nominating their friends to participate.

The competition ended on 30th April and two winners were announced to claim the R16 000 each.

The best rap was awarded to Muzi Mzolo. Says Muzi, “I stumbled on the competition and thought ‘why not, it sounds like fun.’ I was inspired by the Birthday rap and made a video to match the lyrics. Thus the attire and the car. Winning was the best part of this experience! I feel great and wish everyone at First Car Rental a great year just as they've made mine!”

A computer algorithm randomly selected Chantelle Horisberger, for the lucky draw prize. Says Chantelle,

“I joined the competition for the fun of it, and felt it was 'worth a try' - but I certainly didn't expect to win anything. But, you know what they say - you can't win if you don't enter! When I heard the news that I had won, I couldn't contain myself - I literally started doing a victory dance around the room! I am so thrilled about the prize - it will certainly be very useful! Thank you so much First Car Rental - You are AMAZING!”
