The Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts are proud to present a remarkable evening of live music on Sunday, 26 January 2025, featuring South Africa’s multi-award-winning Afro-pop duo Mafikizolo and the electrifying Ross Learmonth, the former frontman of the legendary rock band, Prime Circle.

Known for their timeless hits and dynamic stage presence, Mafikizolo has been at the forefront of South African music for over two decades. The duo’s harmonious fusion of Afrobeat, kwaito, and soulful melodies has captured hearts at home and abroad. Their signature tracks, including "Khona" and "Emlanjeni," have become anthems that resonate with audiences of all ages.

Speaking about performing at Kirstenbosch, Mafikizolo’s lead singer, Nhlanhla Mafu, shared her excitement: “Kirstenbosch is such a unique and enchanting space where music and nature truly come alive. For us, performing here is an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the audience's energy and create moments that leave a lasting impression. We’re ready to deliver a night filled with passion, rhythm, and unforgettable memories.”

Joining Mafikizolo is Ross Learmonth, one of South Africa's most distinctive rock voices. As the former frontman of Prime Circle, Ross has been part of a band that has shaped the South African rock landscape, with multiple awards and chart-topping singles to their name. Now stepping into a solo career, Ross brings fresh energy and his unparalleled voice to the Kirstenbosch stage.

Ross reflected on the upcoming show: “Performing at Kirstenbosch is always a special experience. It’s a place that holds a deep sense of connection, where nature and music intertwine beautifully. To share the stage with an act as legendary as Mafikizolo is both humbling and an honour. Together, we hope to deliver a show that celebrates the richness of South African music and creates unforgettable moments for the audience.”

The concert will be a blend of Afro-pop rhythms, heartfelt rock ballads, and unmissable energy, providing a spectacular celebration of South African music.

Sarah Struys, Events and Tourism Manager at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, commented on this exciting collaboration: “Kirstenbosch prides itself on catering for every musical taste and bringing people together with music.  This concert perfectly showcases the incredible diversity of South African music, blending the timeless Afro-pop beats of Mafikizolo with Ross Learmonth’s rich, evocative rock sound. Kirstenbosch’s breathtaking setting  has a way of enhancing every performance, and this lineup promises an evening of unparalleled magic, connection, and world-class artistry.”

Whether dancing to Mafikizolo’s infectious beats or swaying to Ross’s powerful melodies, this unforgettable night at Kirstenbosch promises to unite people in celebrating culture and sound.
