Earth Hour - ‘Dine in the Dark’ at Grande Provence
Submitted by: The P.R TeamGrande Provence Heritage Wine Estate, part of The Huka Retreats, invites guests to ‘Dine in the Dark’ at 19h00, on Saturday 29 March, in support of Earth Hour with a 5 course signature menu created by Executive Chef, Darren Badenhorst, at just R750.00 per person. To reiterate Earth Hour’s mission, no lights will be turned on during dinner; instead guests will be surrounded by countless candles, to create a beautifully romantic ambience as the Estate’s way of showing respect to Mother Nature.
The menu will be created by local, sustainable, naturally farmed and organic ingredients with a variety of cooking methods used, in and out of the kitchen, including on the fire or in the pizza oven, for each dish on the menu.
To start, guests can enjoy an artisanal tapas board to share followed by chilled and truffled cauliflower velouté, cold smoked Franschhoek trout or confit tomato gazpacho, basil oil and iced baby leeks. Guests can then experience either ‘Tastes of the Ocean’ or Tastes of the Forest’.
For the next course choose between barbeque Karoo lamb loin, organic root vegetable puff tart and slow cooked lamb sweetbreads or barrel smoked beef fillet, foraged mushroom risotto and Marsala jus. To complete your culinary experience, indulge in wood oven baked French cheese, candied Estate olives, micro greens and a wood oven baked mini baguette or fire-toasted hazelnut marshmallow and rose vanilla macaroon and 30 second white chocolate ice-cream.
