Daily feedings and talks will keep families entertained at Crocworld this holiday!

With the winter school holidays finally here, parents and caregivers are looking for exciting ways to spend quality time with their children and loved ones. Fortunately, Crocworld Conservation Centre in Scottburgh on the KZN South Coast’s provides the ultimate wildlife experience – with daily feedings and talks planned from 23 June to 19 July.

“The beautiful winter weather on the KZN South Coast means families can get outside and have fun in nature rather than being cooped up indoors,” explained Crocworld Conservation Centre Manager, James Wittstock. “Our beautiful centre, surrounded by indigenous coastal forest and sea views, is the perfect space for people of all ages to enjoy a great day out. There are exciting new residents to meet, talks and feedings to enjoy, and even the chance to spot the passing Sardine Run action!”

Crocworld Conservation Centre is one of the province’s leading zoological facilities, which almost 400 animals residing on-site. The inhabitants include crocodiles, snakes, monitor lizards, tortoises and a myriad of rehabilitated and wild bird species for avian enthusiasts to enjoy. Many of the Crocworld resident animals were brought in for rehabilitation but, being unfit for release into the wild, they’ve found a forever home in this happy space! There is also the farmyard where little ones can interact with furry creatures such as bunnies and guinea pigs.

For those wanting mementoes of their visit, the Crocworld Curio Shop is stocked with souvenirs to satisfy all preferences. To ensure visitors are kept entertained throughout the school holidays, Crocworld has planned some great daily activities. These include:

  • 10am: Reptile demonstration and interaction
  • 11am and 3pm: Nile Crocodile feeding and juvenile crocodile interactions
  • 2pm: Feeding of Marabou Storks (Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun) and Cape Vultures (Tue, Thurs, Sat)

Crocworld’s on-site restaurant, The Fish Eagle Café, offers the best burger-and-view combination on the KZN South Coast! The friendly staff is ready to serve delicious meals and drinks, alleviating parents of culinary responsibilities for a day. Nestled above an indigenous coastal forest, the restaurant’s wraparound deck provides unparalleled 180-degree views of Aliwal Shoal, one of South Africa’s Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). This is the ideal spot to catch sightings of migrating groups of mother and calf Humpback whales, as well as the Sardine Run spectacle!
