A new South American grill house comes to Bree Street called Charango Barbacoa.
The menu features a wide selection of meat cuts cooked to perfection. All steaks are served with an extensive variety of mainly South American-inspired wet rubs, butters and sauces. These include salsa verde, chimichurri, chermoula, espresso butter, brandy cream and bone marrow butter.
Sides to try with your grilled steak are smoked salt and garlic aïoli, sweet potato fries, chargrilled corn with chipotle butter. There are also zucchini fries with spicy tomato aïoli, baby veg tossed in beurre noisette and burnt butter mashed potatoes.
Tacos make an appearance with fillings of pulled pork, beef or tuna. There are other fish dishes with ceviche, tuna tataki, and flame-grilled prawns. Finally, there is even a South African touch of droëwors and biltong.
Look forward to desserts of deep-fried ice cream, crema catalana a Spanish dessert similar to créme brûlée and dulce de leche ice cream with a Pisco-infused sauce.
With South American flair, this casual dining spot is an open flow venue which blends sidewalk and internal seating to create a lively dining spot. Buenos Aires meets the barrios. Discover a light and airy dining venue, where whitewashed brick meets wooden floors and white tiled walls amidst a collection of South American design features - framed photographs of gauchos and campesinos, old lamps and books, vintage travel posters and wall maps, ceramics and plants in earthenware.
Welcome the summer heat with a range of cocktails which includes the delicious Negroni, Forever Summer and Cranberry Fizz. The comprehensive drinks menu also features a diverse list of quality local wines, MCCs sold per glass or bottle, spirits from tequila to rum and of course craft gin. To complete the drinks selection, there is an impressive array of beers including locally crafted brews.
