Cape Town - 8^th of November 2013: To support the seeding of innovative start-ups in the Western Cape, the Methys Technology group organizes the Methys Innovation Challenge to provide Western Cape entrepreneurs with an opportunity to pitch a project and receive a R50 000 subsidy in development value for a Website or a mobile application (Android, BlackBerry, iOS or Windows). Submissions will close on December 8^th at midnight.

Methys is an international technology group with its headquarter in Paris and which has recently promoted its South African office as an innovation hub for the group. The Cape Town based Methys Labs has successfully incubated or provided seed capital and technology to start ups such as Powertime, Energy intelligence, PayGenius, Top12Wines, Kwami – all operating from the Silicon Cape and developing internationally. The Methys Labs Innovation challenge is about providing Western Cape based entrepreneurs the possibility to deliver a digital innovation to their start up or existing business. A development value of R50,000 – to be used against development of either a digital store, a Web site or a mobile application (Android, BlackBerry, iOS or Windows) will be awarded to the entrepreneur(s) coming out with the most innovative concept. Criteria such as business idea viability, disruption potential, customer adoption potential and design will be used for the determination of the winner. A panel comprising Methys folks and independent business people will adjudicate the award, which will be announced at the December 13th Cap40 event at the Mount Nelson. Submissions are to be sent by December 8th at midnight to crossetti@methys.com
