Written by: Orms Save to Instapaper
Orms is thrilled to announce the return of its exclusive outdoor photographic competition, offering South Africans the opportunity to be featured along the picturesque backdrop of the Sea Point Promenade and win amazing Canon prizes worth R100 000. Inspired by the remarkable talents of its local photographers and creators, Orms is committed to providing a platform for artists to showcase their incredible work and bring the beauty of photography directly to the public. Now in its sixth iteration, its Promenade competition offers 20 photographers this chance each year.
“This is a chance for our community to really push themselves as they try to find the magic in the everyday. It’s about bringing the beauty of the everyday to the fore,” says ORMS Marketing Manager Alex Ressel. “With the sea as its backdrop, there is something incredibly powerful about this exhibition,” she continues. “Our key purpose and motivation for this competition is to create a showcase for those who may otherwise not have the chance to exhibit. At the same time, we’re bringing photography to the public, helping to grow the appreciation of this beautiful art form.”
Roger Machin, Canon’s Product Manager says, "Canon is excited and honoured to team up with Orms once again for the Sea Point Promenade exhibition competition. For the past six years, our collaboration has celebrated the remarkable photographic talents of South Africa’s vibrant community. This competition is a fantastic opportunity for amateur and professional photographers to showcase their work to the world. This year’s theme invites us to get closer and view the world from a fresh perspective. We can’t wait to see all the exciting competition submissions.”Building upon the immense success of its past exhibitions, Orms presents the sixth edition: Orms x Canon: Chasing Contrast, where photographers are invited to strip photography back to its raw power - Black & White. Chasing Contrast celebrates South Africa's cities, heritage, landscapes, and everyday beauty through the timeless art of monochrome. No colour, no distractions, just light, texture, and emotions. From sweeping natural scenes to the details of urban life, the competition will depict how South Africans capture the essence of their country in Black & White. The Top 20 images will also be displayed as an outdoor exhibition along the Sea Point promenade in close proximity to its current exhibitions and the exhibition will remain on display for a year, T&C’s apply.
The competition is only available to South African residents who may enter 5 images at a time, as many times as they like.
