Firexpo Cape Town highlights demand for stronger regional protection

The first Firexpo Cape Town, co-located with Securex, A-OSH EXPO, and Facilities Management Expo, took place from 21 to 23 October 2025 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). For three days, visitors discovered practical fire protection systems designed to meet the Western Cape’s unique mix of risks, from wildfires and industrial hazards to residential and estate vulnerabilities.

“Firexpo Cape Town has confirmed the importance of providing regional access to fire safety technologies and expertise. The Western Cape faces distinct risks, and this platform has shown just how valuable it is for the over-2000 visitors who came to see tailored solutions close to home,” says Mark Anderson, Portfolio Director at Montgomery Group Africa.

Addressing Cape Town’s fire risks

The Western Cape is no stranger to fire hazards. Between November 2024 and February 2025 alone, over 32 000 hectares were lost to veld and wildland fires. At the same time, Cape Town recorded more than 3 700 residential fires in the past year, with tragic losses in informal settlements. Firexpo Cape Town provided a much-needed platform where solutions to these challenges were showcased, including detection and suppression systems, emergency lighting, evacuation tools, and PPE.

The province’s diverse environments, from office parks, industrial facilities, heritage buildings and high-rises to vineyards, maritime facilities, and coastal estates each carry different fire safety demands. Firexpo exhibitors demonstrated systems capable of addressing these challenges, such as corrosion-resistant suppression for coastal areas, discreet detection for heritage sites, and large-scale industrial firefighting solutions.

“From estate managers looking to protect communities to industrial operators securing high-risk environments, Firexpo Cape Town gave visitors the chance to meet with suppliers who understand local realities and regulatory frameworks. The event highlighted that fire safety is not an optional extra but a core component of sustainable operations across industries,” says Anderson.

Beyond the product showcases, Firexpo Cape Town reinforced the irreplaceable value of in-person engagement. Visitors commented on the ability to ask detailed questions directly to technical experts, while exhibitors noted how live demonstrations made complex solutions easier to understand. Hosting the event in Cape Town provided unmatched convenience for regional professionals who may not have travelled to Johannesburg, ensuring broader representation and stronger local conversations.

Visitors emphasised the practicality of the solutions showcased, while exhibitors praised the opportunity to connect with a wide range of industries under one roof.

“We need to get our name out into the Cape Town market, so this was the perfect platform for us to achieve this goal. We focused on our solution for lithium battery safety, but we also have other products that address wildfires, which is a big issue in the region. We were so busy at the show, and I believe it has amazing potential,” says Liezel Vorster, Sales and Marketing Executive at Flameblock.

“I’ve worked in the fire service for years, but I’ve learned some new things at this expo,” says Lee Marques from Industrial Fire & Hazard Control.

“The co-location of Firexpo with Securex, A-OSH EXPO, and Facilities Management Expo meant that visitors could explore how fire safety ties directly into broader strategies. For example, integrating fire detection into facility dashboards, or ensuring evacuation plans align with OHS and security systems. This ability to explore interconnected approaches added significant value to the visitor experience,” says Anderson.

The success of Firexpo Cape Town confirms that fire safety remains a pressing concern across the Western Cape, from residential communities to industrial operations. Its role as part of the four-show platform ensures that the conversation around resilience, compliance, and safety will continue to grow in importance for the region. “We look forward to welcoming even more visitors to the March 2027 event, which is not co-located with Securex, A-OSH EXPO, and Facilities Management Expo, but also with the Cape Town Industrial Technology Exhibition (CITE) we are launching. We suggest following updates on the website: www.firexpo.co.za, to stay updated,” says Anderson.
