Firexpo 2026 to spotlight compliant, practical solutions for a changing fire landscape

Firexpo 2026 returns to Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand from 2 to 4 June, once again co-located with Securex South Africa, A-OSH EXPO, and Facilities Management Expo. For the first time, the four shows will also run alongside RE+ South Africa, creating a single, powerful platform where fire protection, security, occupational safety, facilities management, and renewable energy converge in one venue.
“For exhibitors, Firexpo 2026 offers access to a high-quality audience seeking practical, tested fire safety technologies that support regulatory compliance and risk mitigation. The growth of battery energy storage, solar installations, warehousing, e-mobility, and densified commercial developments means buyers are looking for suppliers who can help them manage complex risks. Exhibitors can use the show to demonstrate innovations, meet decision-makers, and build relationships with insurers, engineers, utilities, and property owners who are actively sourcing solutions,” says Mark Anderson, Portfolio Director at Montgomery Group Africa.
Firexpo 2026 will again feature the free-to-attend Firexpo Seminar Theatre, where experts will unpack critical issues shaping the fire protection sector. One of the key topics gaining attention is the rise in lithium-ion battery fire incidents, driven by widespread solar adoption and the rapid expansion of battery energy storage systems. With 1.3 GWh of installed capacity, South Africa now ranks eighth globally according to a recent benchmark study by Rho Motion[1]. This growth brings fresh challenges for facilities managers and fire engineers, as many incidents arise from poor installation, inadequate ventilation, or non-compliant construction.
Compliance requirements are also shifting. SANS 1910:2022 and the updated NFPA 855 standards outline strict conditions for BESS installations, including fire-rated rooms, detection, ventilation, and suppression protocols. Insurers are placing greater scrutiny on compliance, making it essential for organisations to adopt fully tested and certified solutions. Exhibitors at Firexpo can meet a market that is actively seeking technologies designed to address these risks, from multi-sensor detection and gas monitoring to fireproofing materials, suppression systems, and software-driven monitoring tools.
Beyond lithium-ion battery risk, the 2026 programme will explore broader trends affecting the fire sector. These include urban vertical growth, evolving warehouse layouts, energy efficiency retrofits, climate-related hazards, and the integration of fire protection systems into smart building infrastructure. Visitors can gain up-to-date insight into legislation, best practice, and practical measures for improving resilience across residential, commercial, and industrial environments.
“For attendees, Firexpo offers the chance to compare products side by side, consult directly with specialists, and stay informed about emerging risks. The co-location with Securex South Africa, A-OSH EXPO, and Facilities Management Expo provides added value, as visitors can explore how fire protection links with security, workplace safety, and building operations. With the addition of RE+ South Africa, Firexpo 2026 also enables visitors to understand how renewable energy growth is transforming fire prevention, detection, and response requirements. We recommend visiting www.firexpo.co.za to find out more about Firexpo,” says Anderson.
