Willowton Group spends their 67 Minutes on Mandela Day by Preparing 670 Sandwiches for Old Age Homes & Orphanages in Pietermaritzburg

Leading edible oil producer, Willowton Group, manufacturers of Sunfoil Pure Sunflower Oil and Sunshine D Margarine and spreads, has reached out to local orphanages and old age homes to come together to celebrate Mandela Day.
To honour the legacy of the great Tata Madiba, the Willowton Group are celebrating the 15th edition of Mandela Day by supporting 2 local orphanages and 2 old age homes in the Pietermaritzburg area by bringing together 67 of our staff members to spend 67 minutes to prepare 670 sandwiches.
The staff of Willowton Group have come together in our state-of-the-art Willowton Group Baking & Culinary School to prepare 200 cheese & tomato, 300 peanut butter & jam along with 170 chicken polony` sandwiches which have all been prepared with delicious Sunshine D Original spread which “tastes nice, no lies”
Our passionate head chefs at the baking school have also offered to bake 4 delicious cakes which are being baked with our specialty baking margarine, Woodenspoon, which will also be handed over together with the sandwiches to our nominated orphanages and old age homes later today.
“The coming together of all our staff members today, to commemorate the 15th edition of celebrating the Nelson Mandela legacy and all that he has done for our country, forms part of a larger commitment that the Willowton Group has made over the last few decades to assist the orphanages and old age homes in the Pietermaritzburg area. Our CSI feeding scheme initiative supports various orphanages, homes and schools across the country on a monthly basis. We also support our local communities on a weekly basis by delivering fresh vegetables to nominated communities. We are also very proud to mention that all the donated vegetables are all grown on our premises here in Pietermaritzburg” Mr Mohamed Ishfaaq Moosa said.
The senior executive management team and staff of the Willowton Group are committed to supporting South Africans across the country through initiatives like Mandela Day and through their various CSI initiatives such Bursaries & interest free loans to deserving students, sports sponsorships at the grassroot level, creating jobs within the communities that we operate in, supporting community upliftment projects such as the Community Chest, Society for the Blind in Pietermaritzburg and Cape Town, Muslim Charitable Foundation, Msunduzi Hospice and supporting the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
