This comprehensive campaign offers valuable insights and fosters collaboration among healthcare professionals, stroke survivors, and their families. Central to the campaign is a free webinar scheduled for 26 November 2024 at 13:00.
Stroke remains a critical health issue with significant prevalence in South Africa. Recent statistics reveal that approximately 1 in 4 people will have a stroke in their lifetime, making it the third leading cause of death in the country. While stroke survival rates have improved, many survivors continue to face long-term effects such as disability and a reduced quality of life. Strokes can lead to impairments in mobility, speech, and cognition, which deeply impact daily living. Early recognition and effective rehabilitation are essential for improving recovery outcomes.
