Shisanyama, Gatsbys, Bunny Chows and Beats - Rosebank Mall Dishes Up A Taste of Mzansi
Written by: Rosebank Mall Save to Instapaper
South African flavours take centre stage at Rosebank Mall’s Street Feast.
Get ready for a South African feast! Saturday, 4 October 2025, is about to become the tastiest day of the year as Rosebank Mall throws the ultimate celebration of our nation’s incredible street food culture. From 10am to 7pm, Bath Avenue transforms into a mouth-watering playground where bunny chows meet banging beats, and everyone’s invited to the party.
This all-day celebration is free entry, pure South African fun at its finest. Rock up early because the first 100 people through the gates score a complimentary rooibos-infused gin cocktail - nothing says “welcome to the party” quite like a local gin with our national brew!
Street Food, Straight from Home - it’s a Vibe
This is the real deal, straight from the heart of Mzansi's streets you’ll find local food, music and culture at an unmistakably homegrown experience that captures the spirit of the streets. Amelia’s Kitchen is bringing the legendary bunny chow experience: a hollowed-out loaf of bread, stuffed to the brim with curry so good it’ll have you licking your fingers and asking for seconds. Born in Durban and perfected over generations, this is edible history served with extra spice and a side of nostalgia.
White Cocoa fires up the ultimate shisanyama experience. We’re talking proper braai vibes where marinated meat sizzles over open flames, that makes your taste buds sing. The kind of meals that turns strangers into friends over shared plates and cold drinks.
Just Jo brings Cape Town’s famous Gatsby sandwiches to the party alongside juicy hamburgers. These aren’t your average sarmies – we’re talking legends as long as your arm packed with everything good in life. These beauties are meant to be shared because good food always tastes better with good company.
Sweet Scoops keeps things sweet with ice cream that’s perfect for cooling down all that delicious heat.
The Soundtrack to Your Saturday
What’s a proper South African party without the beats that get your body moving? We’ve lined up an absolute fire selection of DJs who know exactly how to keep the energy pumping. Kyotic, Ryan The DJ, Lula Obida, Chelsea Sloan, Chowmein, Teddy Tumi, Kylo, and Ty Dilla will be spinning everything from house to amapiano, kwaito to contemporary South African sounds that’ll have you dancing between bites. The whole vibe is pure South African magic - relaxed, welcoming, and filled with that special energy that makes everyone feel like family, whether you’ve just met or you’ve been mates for years.
Rosebank Mall Marketing Manager, Angelisa Gengan explains why these Street Feasts matter: “These events are at the heart of what we believe community should be about. We’re not just a shopping destination. We’re a place where people come together to celebrate, connect, and create memories.”
Come as You Are, Leave with a Full Belly and Happy Heart
A Taste of Mzansi represents everything that makes South African street food culture so special. Gengan adds: “Street Feast gives us the perfect opportunity to showcase the incredible diversity and talent that makes South Africa so special, whilst providing a platform for local food entrepreneurs and artists to shine. This event is about bringing people together over the flavours that define us.”
Round up your crew, bring your appetite, and get ready for a Saturday that celebrates everything we love about home. Whether you’re craving comfort food that reminds you of your childhood or you’re ready to try something that’ll become your new obsession, this street feast has your name written all over it.
Come hungry, come thirsty, and come ready to experience the kind of good times that only happen when South Africans get together over incredible food and killer beats. This is going to be one for the books!
