Cape Town’s original lifestyle hotel redefines creative hospitality with new design, new energy, and the same RED spirit.
Radisson RED Cape Town has officially unveiled its refreshed look and vibrant new rooftop restaurant and cocktail bar, Locâl,, following a major refurbishment of the iconic V&A Waterfront property.
The relaunch marks a new chapter for the hotel, one that stays true to its creative DNA while introducing bold, refreshed design elements across the guest rooms, reception area, and rooftop spaces.
A Fresh Look, Same RED Comfort
Guests checking in will discover a reimagined version of RED: sleek new interiors, contemporary furnishings, and artistic details inspired by Cape Town’s culture and colour. While the design has evolved, the brand’s hallmark comfort and playful energy remain unchanged.
“RED has always been about putting the fun back into fundamentals,” says General Manager Angus Spurr, who officially hosted the hotel’s relaunch event. “Our guests will find the same relaxed comfort they’ve always loved, just with a bold new design that reflects the creative, connected spirit of Cape Town.”
The updated rooms blend modern minimalism with local flair, while the reception has been transformed into a lively welcome lounge, a social hub that sets the tone for the experience ahead.
Introducing Locâl, A Rooftop Celebration of Cape Town Flavour and Art
The most exciting addition to the refreshed Radisson RED experience is Locâl, a rooftop restaurant and cocktail bar designed as a vibrant meeting place for both locals and travellers.
Perched above the V&A Waterfront, Locâl offers sweeping views of Signal Hill, the harbour, and the city skyline. The menu showcases tapas-style dishes made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients, a true celebration of Cape Town’s diverse culinary scene, paired with innovative cocktails and a laid-back, stylish atmosphere.
The rooftop has also been reimagined as a canvas for Cape Town artist Nardstar, whose colourful mural captures the energy of the Mother City through bold shapes and dynamic movement. “Locâl, is our love letter to Cape Town,” adds Spurr. “It’s where art, flavour, and community come together, an inclusive, creative space that reflects the city’s soul.”
The RED Evolution: REDone. REDefined. REDiscovered.
The relaunch is part of Radisson RED’s ongoing evolution as South Africa’s original lifestyle hotel, a hub of culture, art, and social connection. “This refresh is about rediscovering who we are while evolving with our guests,” says Spurr. “We’ve leveled up the experience but kept what makes RED, RED bold ideas, creative design, and an open, welcoming spirit that celebrates local talent.”
WithLocâl,officially open and the refurbished spaces now welcoming guests, Radisson RED Cape Town invites locals and travellers alike to experience the city’s most creative rooftop destination and a hotel that continues to push the boundaries of design-led hospitality.
