An evening of art, food & wine inspired by texture at La Motte
Written by: Hatch Communication Save to Instapaper
On a wine farm or in a restaurant, texture is an element that often plays second fiddle to taste. The same happens in art spaces where we are usually discouraged from touching, and where tactile features are often overshadowed by colour and pattern. But texture is intrinsic to the way we experience life.
It is exactly this richness of texture that has inspired the latest exhibition in the La Motte Ateljee, but also a renewed take on the value of texture when it comes to food and wine.
La Motte invites you to an exceptional evening of art, food and wine, entitled:
A Take on and Taste of Texture
Join us in the La Motte Ateljee to view and experience When Surfaces Talk while enjoying a welcome drink and canapés inspired by the texture-rich exhibition. Then sit down to dinner in L'Ami Family Brasserie for an exceptional menu prepared by chef Stephan Moolman.
Continuing from the canapés, he will introduce a menu that includes bread from the La Motte Bakery's famed wood-fired oven followed by a starter, main, pre-dessert and dessert that promise to charm and surprise. Making the most of the restaurant's Spanish Vulcano Gres Grill he will be showing the exceptional contribution of wood, flame, smoke and chargrill - the reason why famed chef, Anthony Bourdain considered flame to be a vital ingredient, rather than a source of heat for cooking.
The menu will be beautifully paired with various varieties and vintages from La Motte's acclaimed wine selection, presented by Cellarmaster Edmund Terblanche.
Date: Friday, 26 September 2025
Time: 18:00
Price: R1350 per person (includes 5-course menu, wine, water, coffee & tea as well as gratuity)
