Kagiso Media Radio (KMR) has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Mervyn Naidu as Commercial Manager of Time Out South Africa.
Naidu will oversee business operations and drive revenue growth. He will also work closely with the editorial and finance teams to maximise commercial opportunities.
Kagiso Media Radio partnered with Time Out – the global brand that inspires and enables people to experience the best of the city – in December, broadening its coverage in the country.
Time Out South Africa showcases the best things to eat, drink, and explore in cities across the nation.
Before joining Time Out South Africa, Naidu worked as the Head of Business Development at Mediamark. He also worked in direct sales at Jacaranda FM.
With a background in the media industry spanning 20 years, Naidu looks forward to building new revenue streams in the lifestyle and hospitality sector.
“I love the opportunity of a challenge. This role brings the experience economy to life and opens creative spaces for brands to get involved. The strength and reputation of the Time Out brand, together with the raft of excellent campaigns run internationally gives us great leverage and opportunity across South Africa,” he said.
Time Out South Africa has already launched in Cape Town and Johannesburg, with Durban and Pretoria next on the rollout plan.
Naidu hopes to build strong relationships with local clients to ensure long-term business opportunities.
“Trusted campaign executions is what clients require. We have the perfect
combination of platform and creativity to deliver on client expectations. Being surrounded by a team that has a brilliant blend of editorial prowess and
commercial finesse is bound to yield results.”
Anthea Carstens, General Manager: Kagiso Media Radio Publishing and Time Out South Africa, says Naidu’s appointment is in line with KMR’s vision to create meaningful audience and brand experiences.
"We are thrilled to welcome Mervyn as our new Commercial Head at Time Out South Africa. His expertise will be instrumental in driving our growth and ensuring we deliver innovative value to our clients and audiences. We are excited about achieving new milestones together and look forward to creating offerings that serve our clients’ needs and offer our audiences exclusive experiences."
