The Dti to Host Seminar on Investment Policy and Promotion in Sandton

The Department of Trade and Industry, (the dti) in partnership with the World Bank will host a seminar on Partnership Investment Policy and Promotion at The Capital Empire Hotel, in Sandton, Gauteng from 12-15 June 2017.
The four-day seminar is intended to enable representatives of governments from South Africa, Lesotho and Zimbabwe to learn and become familiar with global best practices in investment policy formulation in order to support ongoing efforts to generate and harness Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
According to the Acting Head of Invest SA, Mr Yunus Hoosen, the seminar also aims to expand and deepen participants on the role of FDI in development and economic and export diversification, the relationship between trade and investment, and how the potential benefits of international trade and investment agreements can be maximized for domestic reforms and impacts among other things.
“There will also be roundtable discussions and brainstorming on specific challenges in generating new investment or retaining current investments in the country. The said sessions will also be used to determine the scope of any further assistance on investment policy and promotion strategies that the country will require from the World Bank Group” said Hoosen.
The seminar is targeting Government representatives of South Africa, Lesotho and Zimbabwe that are currently engaged in economic planning, investment policy, trade policy and investment promotion.
