Investors across the globe congregated at The South Africa GBS Investor Conference which was hosted in Umhlanga, KZN from 8 to 10 November. This productive event culminated in the prestigious BPESA Alchemy Awards Banquet running under the Theme of ‘SA’s Got GBS Talent’ on Thursday, 10 November.
“I’d like to congratulate all the nominees and winners at this year’s awards banquet, all of whom are ensuring the continued growth of the global business services [GBS] sector in South Africa,” said Reshni Singh, CEO of BPESA. “This evening was a wonderful opportunity to reward professionals and organisations for their outstanding performance, celebrating a shared vision and upholding the spirit of achievement and excellence.”
Award categories were announced on 23 September with submissions made by 14 October and judging taking place from 18 to 30 October. The judges consisted of an independent national and international panel of industry experts who assessed each of the finalists before announcing the shortlisted candidates. After a series of interviews from 1 to 5 November, the winners were chosen with the announcement made at the banquet.

Many global and regional companies have set up or expanded their operations successfully in South Africa, with GBS considered to be the country’s fastest-growing sector. Some of the industry verticals adopting GBS include technology and communications, financial services, legal and healthcare – with a particular focus on inclusive and youth hires. The conference and awards ceremony will extend this positive trajectory and position the country as a key business process outsourcing (BPO) destination.
