Siyavela Impact Launches Online to Connect and Support Changemakers Globally

Johannesburg – 5 August 2024 – Siyavela Impact, a newly-founded nonprofit company aiming to connect and support changemakers from across the sectors of Corporate Social Investment (CSI), nonprofits (NPO/NPC) and grassroots development projects, will host its global online launch on Thursday, 8 August. 

Siyavela Impact’s online launch will introduce the inspiration, ethos and value of the new entity through the eyes of its four facilitators. Participants will meet the Siyavela facilitators, award-winning development economist Kalnisha Singh, renowned community activist Rehana Moosajee, urban researcher and environmentalist Siwe Ntombela, and media strategist Marie Le Roux. 

Siyavela Impact evolved as a response to the challenges CSI, NPO and project leaders identified in research by the founders. While these challenges manifest on the surface in underperforming projects and systems, the Siyavela Impact team identified three specific needs among individuals working in these fields. These needs are, essentially, for time, resources and community. 

The newly-founded nonprofit aims to empower these visionaries with the knowledge, skills, community and resources to succeed. The outcome is increased performance in impact investment that delivers better results in development projects and ultimately a better life for the communities and individuals they serve. This manifests in the Siyavela Impact Program and Siyavela Impact Community, both kicking off in September 2024. 

The inaugural Siyavela Impact Program comprises a 3-day retreat, 12 monthly online skills development sessions, 3 in-person site visits to sustainable spaces and a sustained, online community of practice. 24 places are available for leaders from the CSI, NPO and development sectors. 

For those seeking a community of like-minded changemakers without the extensive in-person commitment, the Siyavela Impact Community includes only the online sessions without in-person offerings.
