Fikile Mbambo’s journey from being a Youth Employment Service (YES) participant to the Head of Programmes at the Imbeleko Foundation exemplifies the transformative power of professional development and dedication to community service.

A Professional Ascent
Mbambo began her career at the Imbeleko Foundation as a facilitator in 2022. Over two years, her dedication and expertise saw her rise to Operations Manager, and later, to Head of Programmes.
In her current role, she:
- Oversees all programmes offered by the foundation.
- Provides leadership, guidance, and support to her team.
- Works closely with stakeholders, including parents, schools, learners, and community representatives.
Training and Leadership
Mbambo’s commitment to professional development includes attending a capacity-building workshop with leaders from Non-Governmental and Non-Profit Organisations. She also completed the "Lead Where You Are" training course by Khanyisa Inanda Seminary Community Projects (KICP), earning a Certificate of Merit and expanding her leadership skills through interactions with education professionals.
As a leader, she now supervises two YES interns at the Imbeleko Foundation, gaining valuable experience in team management, strategic decision-making, and driving the organisation’s mission forward.
Overcoming Challenges
Mbambo has faced challenges as a young professional, including:
