Ever heard of the saying “bophelo ke di connection”? Simply put, life is about connections, and our response to that is a resounding, “Hell Yeah!”.
The power of connections is predominantly in their ability to change lives for the better. They enable ordinary human beings to do and achieve extraordinary things (some of which they never imagined were possible). We know this with unequivocal assurance because Student Village exists on the foundation of connections. If anyone knows the value of connections, we do.
Over the years, Student Village has been a launchpad, and plug for brands and for many students, and graduates. There are stories from young people like Social Media Influencer Chuene Kaapu, who through the Village, has accessed job opportunities and grown his brand to host the Vodacom NXT LVL Early Career Virtual Expo.
There are many more similar stories, not only from students and graduates but also from the brands we’ve collaborated with. We’re proud to have collaborated with Maynards in helping the brand stay connected to students during Covid.
We were tasked to adopt a fully digital approach and made use of a variety of digital channels, including social media, influencers, and our student WhatsApp army. In the first 2 months, Maynards reached more than 545,000+ students with more than 36,000 engagements (engagement rate of 6,7%, or 3,5X industry average). Furthermore, The Village Rewards channel has grown by 238% in 2 months.
We again collaborated with Spotify SA and helped them reach and connect with students across 9 campuses in South Africa. Through these campus activations, we met and exceeded the brands’ awareness, engagement, and signup goals.
So how do we build these connections? Our unique ability to connect is built on our unique ability to understand. Deep research and many years of cultivating relationships with high school learners, university students, and young professionals have given us deep insight into what’s on the minds of youth today, typical youth behaviors and so much more.
Whether it’s driving awareness for a product or introducing a company’s graduate scheme to students, we know how to get youth buzzing. This is our core business – not only do we have the know-how, but we have the passion to fuel our expertise. We are young; we speak the language and understand the realities.
If you want to connect with the youth as a brand through student marketing, reach out to the real plug at jono@studentvillage.co.za, and let’s create a kick-ass youth campaign to get you connected to SA’s youth.
